I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this, but for those of you who knew Arny Krueger of Michigan from the various forums, he passed away on May 3rd, 2018 at age 71. My heart goes out to his family.

He was very knowledgeable when it came to subjective vs objective listening tests. As a former audiophile, I certainly learned a lot from him. He reminded me over and over that you don't have to spend a lot of money to get great sound.

Thank you Sir for sharing your knowledge and experience with all of us audio enthusiasts. You will be greatly missed. R.I.P.

Arny Kreuger was knowledgeable in most any subject in audio, but to me he'll be best remembered as a strong advocate of blind A/B listening testing, and for promoting the A/B/X method of blind testing.

He also loved to argue with anyone who disagreed :D. Sorry to hear of his passing, RIP.

While I didn't particularly care for his demeanor or always agree with his viewpoints, I sympathize for his passing.

Hopefully he finds peace and is in a better place enjoying the best hifi system beyond our earthly confides. RIP.

Yeah, he was stubborn, but for the sake of introducing some objectivity and reason to this mad consumerist hobby I consider him one of the "white hats" (in Aczel parlance). RIP, and peace to his loved ones.

Can anyone please tell me what forum name he used?

When he was active on AVS, his moniker was 'arnyk'. He also was on other forums, but I never followed those. He used this drawing (of himself?) as an avatar.

He stopped posting on AVS a few years ago. He was probably banned along with a guy in Seattle, who apparently owned a high priced audio shop, because their incessant arguments dominated that forum. After that stopped, the forum got noticeably dull.

Seriously, I have no life.
Yes, Arny, R.I.P.
Inventor of the ABX box with his fellow hobbyists. Tom Nousaine had one and used it on the road.

Ah, yes the famous AmirM (WBF forum dude and Madrona Digital) and the jitter arguments....

I do admit, those endless arguments between arnyk and AmirM eventually got old. Just reading the word "jitter" again raises my blood pressure . Neither of them yielded on a single point.

But Arnyk's primary point – that you can't say anything about jitter without providing evidence that listeners can hear it – was never answered. In fact AmirM went to great efforts to avoid answering it. So, in my opinion, Arny won that debate from the get go.

Agreed. I think of Amir every time I see someone compaining about jitter. Still, they were surprisingly polite debates overall, but as you said neither bending at all. Not sure Arny even called Amir the result of some unfortunate egg spurt (or something along those lines, been trying to remember exactly how he'd toss that sideways insult :) ).

Arny had points. Points that he did a good job backing up and points that while I always hears the sophistry of push back could never quite disprove him.

Arny and Jitter is akin to Carver and his amp challenge. Both made points in a rather well thought out way and certain people in this hobby hated him for being correct and proving it in such an in your face way. I love it.

When you've been banned for being correct you know you're on the right path:)

If you are in the right you don't owe any communities out there a sweetly varnished demeanor.

Ha! I had no idea this [silly] debate ever occurred, since this is only audio forum I pay any attention to. Amir (Madrona) was my dealer when I purchased the Salon2s; they were just getting started.

As for jitter, I'm a reformed stutterer, so I know a lot about jitter.

I didn't have any discussions with him but I knew who he was from various forums. RIP Arny.
