Fire-stick Connection

You'll be able to tell right away that I am not a techie. I recently bought a new Pioneer VSX-532 receiver for my home theater, to replace a previous model that got fried. I'm proud that I was able to connect my TV (Samsung 6 series), Blue-ray DVD, AT&T set top box and receiver by following the directions and using HDMI high speed cables. The one thing I am not able to make work is my Fire-stick. I've plugged the Fire-stick into the receiver at the port labeled STRM BOX, following the same logic as I used for the other components, but I get "no signal found" when I select that setting on the receiver. The only other port not in use on the receiber is GAME. I've reasoned that I should not change the source since the TV is connected to the receiver and then the receiver to all other components. ARC is off, per the Pioneer trouble shooting directions, since my source was reverting to TV when ARC was on. Can someone give me some insight into how to connect the Fire-stick? Thanks for your help.

I use the game hdmi input on the avr for one of my fire sticks, not sure what strm box is, that like a media player input? I also wonder about power for the fire stick....

How are you powering the firestick?

It's plugged in to the same surge protector where I have my blue ray disc, tv and receiver plugged in.

I can't remember, did the Firestick include its own wall wart, or did you provide?
Some USB powered items require a certain amount of Amps (or more) to operate. I don't know if the Firestick is one or not!
Try running the USB cord from another wall wart if the Firestick did not include one.
If you are using one that came with it, try plugging the Firestick directly into the TV and see if it is recognized by the TV in this simplest configuration.

My firesticks came with wall warts....before they arrived I somewhat assumed their power was provided like usb....

The wall wart has a USB plug, doesn't it?
I know my Firestick has a micro USB port on the side of it for the power connection.

No, I mean I thought the HDMI power was sufficient on its own, didn't realize they came with the wall warts until I opened the package....

LOL, I did not realize that HDMI had power! I thought it sucked to have to run a second wire from an outlet (no usb on TV I used)!
I'll unplug it and see what happens next time I get over there!

It has voltage, but that's not meant to provide power for anything.

Got it working. I did the most basic thing. Per instruction on the Amazon website, I reset the Fire-stick by unplugging, waiting 30 seconds and then plugging in again. That made it work when plugged into the STRM BOX port on the receiver. Thanks for your help.

If anyone has buffering/stuttering/Bluetooth synching issues this guy found a hidden menu that maybe will solve your issue:

I also plugged it straight to the outlet and buffering/stuttering/pausing is now gone. I also unplug it when not in use. Hope these tips have helped you.
