Onkyo rz820 help buy it or stay away

I agree with Denon X3xxx recommendation. It would your best bet. Do keep in mind that I also own older Onkyo 805. I work fine, but I had to do a minor repair (replacing a couple of resistors) to it, to fix the display on it. Don't get me wrong 805 is a beast, but I'd never get another Onkyo ever again.
Also, I highly recommend to purchase Denon as new or "used", not refurbished.
Used (sold by an authorized reseller, like amazon or electronic expo) more often than not means simply open or slightly damaged box. or minor cosmetic imperfections (you won't find these without a magnifying glass)
The big difference is Denon AVRs sold as new and/or used get full 3 years warranty.
Refubs only get 1 year.

Not all Denons get the 3 year warranty thing...just the upper models last I saw. Refurbs if purchased with the right credit card can get an extension of a year on the refurb warranty....mine does. Always be aware of your warranty eligibility, tho. Some unauthorized vendors out there, and the official refurbs have limited channels (Denon themselves and A4L particularly).

Klipsch tend to be higher sensitivity speakers, so amp power becomes less of an issue. They should have a model number on the back I'd think....

What do you mean "real potential"? You can't get loud enough now without distortion/clipping?

Distortion would be the problem, I have a very old Sony receiver from like 2005. So I know with any new receiver from a quality manufacturer I'm going to be alot happier. But barely use my home audio I travel alot and use my little sound bar in my rv more then anything. But when I get home I like to crank the system up!!! Just googled them lol. They are the klipsch synergy f30.

Klipsch rates those at 97.5 dB sensitivity and while they're known for fudging that a bit, say call it 93.5 instead, that's still quite sensitive. A small increase in amp isn't going to make a significant difference. Distortion could be more due the speaker itself (quite a bit more distortion in your speakers than your amp spec). What are you using for sub?

The refurbished Integra's here have 2 year Integra warranty, and they are selling some very nice stuff at better than 70% discounts. Back in December, there was a full selection, but still worthy of consideration:

Notably, the DTR-50.3 at $300 has Audyssey XT32 (but not sub EQ, so if you use multiple subs you will have to manually level match them and you will not be able to delay them separately using the setup routine) and Dynamic EQ, I also like the assurance of the THX spec that the amp has some good rigor!

Using the klipsch 450 with the 10in down firing driver. Which I have heard a pair of similar klipsch speakers with nice receiver at a magnolia best buy and they sound great. Well great to me anyways...

Yes I actually considered the 50.4 and actually called accessories4less cuz I was going to order it. But after talking to them that that receiver don't have 4K pass-through and with just purchasing my new 75 inch 4K I didn't want to restrict my picture.

Make sure your new would have both: HDMI 2.0 and HCDP 2.2 at the least or it's a hard stop for you.

I don't think they used to extend it that low in their lineup but of course S series is still not X series....just got to remind oneself there are divisions within a brand name....

That 820 would do just fine for the OP. Even has a 15 band EQ. Power supply is generous, a high-end DAC, over size Caps. The latest greatest surround formats and as for Not having Audyssey even that room correction Auto setup is a hit and miss. Come to think of it Most any of the auto set-ups set are a hit and miss. In my opinion, the OP would be happy with the 820. Unless the OP doesn't need all the creature features. Then go with a used unit with some warranty. From what I have read up those old Integra units are of the old school build, some have been known to blow-up!.

What ever you do decide on a unit, Do Not rely solely on advice from this forum. Keep doing Your research, If you are at a stand point shoot an email to one of Genes colleagues that actually test gear and do the the write ups I do believe you'll find their advice a lot more valid. Gene himself has gone head to head with some of these so called self imposed experts. Most of the advice you're getting are from salesman in here. And they do sell Snake Oil!.

PS, Specs, graphs are factual that's how they are doing that in here. Nothing wrong with that this is an open forum, but the few who are doing that are called showmanship. Just another slang for salesman.

Yeah bro appreciate it. I have been researching receivers sense 2014 and still haven't bit the bullet. Was set on the onkyo 929 but then seen they was having some issues and been researching on and off every sense. Just picked up the new 4k TV and really pushing to pick up a decent receiver now. My biggest concern for this post was if onkyo had fixed some of the issues "nothing ever perfect" but instead it turned into denon better or this is better. Like I said in a earlier statement may hold out for me a yammy if they ever give a deal.

That makes sense!
I wasn't sure if you had seen the discounts A4L was running on the Integra.
I suspect Integra replaced the faulty components as part of their refurb process (A4L may be able to confirm). Offering a 2 year warranty would be an expensive decision if they did not swap out the known faulty board.

If you don't care for Audyssey Dynamic EQ or dual SubEQ or XT32 and as long as you have good warranty, $559 is mighty tempting for sure.

Just looking at the big thing makes me want to buy it for $559.

But because I personally must have Audyssey XT Dynamic EQ, I have to stick to Denon, Marantz, and especially that gorgeous $7,000 McIntosh MX122 Pre-pro with Audyssey XT32 Dynamic EQ.

Thanks! I have researched a little but have fell short on any solid information. Hate to bite the bullet and grab a receiver that won't last long ya know!

I wouldn't worry to much about how long any unit will last by the time it's 2,3 years of age and that's pushing it. They'll come out with or change up, or you'll find out long before you thought the unit wouldn't last you. They done went and change up or went back to everything analog. Find a unit Your comfortable with set it up, use room treatments, add some flare and enjoy!. You don't have to spend a ton of money. The one's who do spend that kind of money on audio/video are blessed or stupid one of the two.
