Remote Control USB Fan For Reciever Cooling

Hey, my Receiver is on amp rack with only 2 inches above it. If this is not enough for the receiver to be cool, I wanted to put a fan on it, but not have it running 24/7. With my old reciever, it would shut off completely when I turn it off so the fan could be directly connected to the USB port and when the reciever turned off the fan would shut off as well. My new receiver just goes into standby when I turn it off, so I can’t connect the fan directly to the receiver. I was thinking about setting up a remote control led light dimmer usb pass through on my logitech harmony remote, so it would have to be IR. The only ones I have found are RF. However I did find IR pass through a with dc plugs. Could I get an adapter for these? Any other ideas?

Check out the Infinity Aircom Series on Amazon. The T8 or T9 should fit and from what I understand they work extremely well.

I was looking in like the $10-$20 range lol. I just spent like $500 On a reciever and Blu Ray player so I Can’t spend much more without going over my budget. I already have a fan, I just need something to control it.

FWIW it might just be what level of standby you're employing. On my Denon if network is enabled to be "always on" (vs off in standby mode) my usb fan stays on, but I don't set network to always on so no issue for me.

Wire something through the trigger out jack instead? Not powered by the jack, still powered by the USB port, just switched on that way.

Seriously, I have no life.

12V triggers are only rated for about 150mA, which isn't enough to power a fan, but it could be used to latch a relay on a power cord.
