Hi my name is Ken. After watching and agreeing with the 90 videos I have watched so far on you tube from you guys I made the dive. I would like to make a post on speaker wire. I agree that its all snake oil and would like to state that AWG laws only apply to Real wire that you buy in the electrical section at a hardware stores. And Monster cable and the other guys don't have to put the AWG stated amount of copper in there wires because they are labeled SPEAKER wire and not electrical wire. I found this out when cutting into and spool of MONSTER CABLE of the same gauge wire . It had a plastic core and copper wrapped on around the core . I was pissed and gave it back. All copper wire is oxygen free copper too. So I buy my speaker wire at home depot now. I use the black Landscaping wire that has the AWG numbers stamped on one side of the 2 wire cord. I use the number side as (+) . Please correct me if I am wrong in stating any of this. I use 12 AWG of equal lengths for each channel .

That'll work. You don't need to use equal lengths particularly, at the speeds electricity travels it'd take a significantly long cable length difference to cause any issues, not likely something you'll run into in a home installation at least.

Forgot to mention in your other thread, welcome to the forums.

Thanks for pointing that out. I'm not surprised to read how Monster Cable takes unfair advantage of people. They seem to make it their business model.

Few people seem to get that. I'm glad you do :).

Hi Just playing around and seeing if I can post some pics of my Music room. I consider myself a Audiophile on a Budget. If I can build it myself I try. This is my audio room and home made rack. Solid red oak and 1 1/2" MDF shelves floating on 3 spikes. All shelves on 3 spikes.

I have recently added a home made ground bar on top of rack. Grounded to house ground. I touch ground bar before touching records or turntable . And get a static discharge every time . Unless bare foot. the bare foot thing seems to work as no static build up

The isolation seems to work audio rack with turntable because I have 2 grandsons who love to jump and dance in music room. And they have yet to get needle to bounce on records . They have tried many times. and they know HEY !!! DONT TOUCH JUST LISTEN ...

3" space from top of denon to shelf and wide open on sides and back. So plenty of air to crank the MTMs when I build them

Loved your pics and your setup. I have spent a lifetime doing audio on a budget. Finally, during the last few years, the budget crisis has lifted and I've been able to spend more freely. But, old habits die hard so I still love squeezing every dollar's worth of value out of a purchase. Looks like you've done a remarkable job.

I love the photo on the wall. Swerd has it in his avatar. Its one of my favorite all time posters/pics. The one with the guy in the chair getting his hair blown back by the sound of the speaker. I have been enjoying that photo for several decades.

I particularly enjoy when members post pictures of their setups because you can get a sense of what they really have and really do. I fear there are a fair number of posers who come and take shots at other members hard earned setups. Anonymity and the ability to take potshots is just part of the online experience I guess. But, if you could see their own setups you'd see they don't have a leg to stand on.

Anyway, enjoyed seeing your setup and reading some of your posts. Enjoy the forum. Plenty of good DIY here and plenty of stuff to learn and share.

I hate seeing high End stuff that I can't afford being abused . Like read the dam owners manual. I would love to be able to afford a full McIntosh set up . And see pics of the stuff with no air space and stacked directly on top of each other with again no air space... Thanks for the nice words
