Figure I check with y’all... friend gave me this sub, wasn’t turning on so I called def Tec. After like 2 months they sent me a new back panel with the amp assembly gratis. I installed it and removed the old of course but still doesn’t turn on.... is there a fuse inside the box somewhere i am missing?

No fuse in the box.

Either the wall outlet is bad, a bad cable or they sent you are dud. No other possibilities.

Is their no power or no sound? How is the sub connected?

No power. Wall connected, lfe

Check you do have power at the AC outlet. Especially make sure what you have it plugged into is not a switched lighting circuit that is switched off some place.

Check the power fuse in the new amp.

Check the AC line in the new unit with an Ohm meter, it should not be open circuit.

If all these check out, then you have a dud unit. Quite likely, as those are not good subs.

you got the sub for free and that's the best thing about it! I could be 100% wrong but the consensus from what I've read on Audioholics is Definitive Technology does not make good subs.

Did you, or did DT have you, check the driver for fault rather than the amp?

I've got the same or similar problem. A couple years ago, mine wouldn't turn on and I read a post that if you bypass the crossover and phase pots, it can fix the issue. You need to solder a few wires between some pins on the circuit board, but it's not very difficult. That worked for me... for a while. However, now mine will not turn on again. It started so that I'd have to crank up the volume a LOT to get the sub to recognize that it was receiving a signal to turn on. Then it had to be turned up more, and eventually, it started turning off after maybe 30 minutes of playing. Now it won't turn on again. Annoying. Going to search for a fix. I'll update if I find something useful.

Hogwash! Def tech makes a quality sub. Last year a user was having the same problem here on audioholics and it was solved with receiver settings,I had the same problem with an sc8000 it was receiver settings.

I run dual SC reference, and I own a Trinity. Both 10yrs plus without an issue, both still compete with anything out there.

Sound like kids with the brand bashing.........

Other than 1 or 2 subs, the rest of the line is meh. It's not product bashing but truth telling.

Nothing meh about them, and yes it's product bashing. Get back with me when you've used every def tech sub, just curious how many have you owned?

None, I wouldn't own one, especially their TOL at that insane price. I own subs that perform. Dollar for dollar you can do a lot better. Again not bashing ( no B&M subs are a good value) but it does sound like huge fanboyism

What do I think? I think you've been excused sir, you're comparing a sealed sub to a ported sub, actually a larger sealed. The passive radiators offer a ported technology (pun intended). Your validity has expired, and proof of following the status quo and their abhorent info is quite obvious.

I've owned most brands,I don't bash any of them, each have their own distinct trademarks, you've classified a brand as trash without using a one.

I'm aware of the alignments, and the PR is not that great. I can do the smaller sb1000 if you like. I'm taking a sub in the same price range and comparing performance. As you can see for $800 retail its nothing to write home about. Glad your enjoying yours, but dont think for one second that DT makes awesome subs, they don't.

Of course they make awesome subs! They do! Tell ya what, you can come to my house and demo my dt subs anytime, I haven't had an svs, rhythmik, hsu or psa owner leave yet without having a positive reaction, some had to leave the room because the tactile response overwhelmed them

Stay away from the numbers game, I got caught in that when buying my first Corvette, the ad said 300hp! But the truth was 245 rwhp, did it make my Vette trash? Nah I loved it for what it was and did, and I still buy Chevy!

The 78 pace car I had was. Their subs dont represent a good dollar to performance ratio. The trinity can crank, so could the two martin logan decent Is I had. Anyone in HT is better off with ID products dollar for dollar. I'm sorry your taking this personally, but the measurements tell the tape. Again glad your enjoying yours.
