Which setup and speakers for home theater?

I have been looking on what would be best for me, and after couple of weeks of investigation, I figured out I need help. So I will ask for help here. ;)

I am mostly watching movies, but also love to listen to music. I don't want or have space for bigger setups, so I would like some 2.x setup.

For long time now I have had Yamaha receiver RX V363 SILVER. Never really used it as I should have, but I want to now. It was a gift, that I would prefer to keep.
So I have couple of questions:

1) Can you advise on what kind of setup (just soundbar, soundbar plus 2 speakers, sub-woofer plus 2 speakers....).
2) What speakers should I get for budget below $1k

Oh, it would be nice if speakers are silver, to match TV and receiver.

For music, stay away from soundbars. Soundbars would be fine for background music but nothing more serious than that. You will want a pair of speakers and a subwoofer.

There aren't really any good speakers in your budget that come in silver. That isn't a common finish for mass-produced speakers, so you can forget silver.

There are a lot of decent 2.1 setups that can be had for under $1k. Here are some good combinations: Monolith K-BAS speakers / Monolith 10" THX Select Subwoofer, Hsu Research Hybrid 2 2.1 package, SVS Prime bookshelf speakers / SVS PB-1000 subwoofer, Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 bookshelf speakers / Rythmik LV12R subwoofer, RSL CG23 2.1 setup, KEF Q100 bookshelf speakers / Hsu VTF-1 mk3 subwoofer.

Here is one combo that can get you kinda close to silver finishes, white speakers and a white sub, but it is a bit over your budget: KEF Q150 speakers in white, with SVS SB-1000 subwoofer in white:

You do pay a premium for what you get in that white finish though. For example, you can get a KEF Q100 and Hsu VTF-1 mk3 sub for maybe around $750 shipped, where as that white speakers and sub setup will cost you maybe about $1200 shipped, and that white subwoofer would not be as powerful as the less expensive one.

Honing in on your comments in bold, I think shadyj has made some great suggestions.

Decor speakers of any note are typically really expensive....the white option is gaining steam interior decor again...that might be the closest to silver, but you do pay a premium for it as he noted.

My main point was to reinforce the thought of staying away from a sound bar...a really good sound bar from Golden Ear (Super Cinema 3D Array XL) is nearly $1600 without a sub and it even with a sub it will still fall short of performance of those combos shadyj mentioned.

If you have silver, then go white with aluminum woofers

I suggest to look at Elac speakers. Elac has a nice sounding book shelf speaker. Check out their web page and Youtube. Emotiva is another suggestion but I've listened to speakers form both companies for under $1000.00 and I prefer Elac but if you can listen to both is the best thing to do. Check out Audioholics speakers of the year for 2017 also.

Speakers are subjective, some may like a particular speaker for both HT and music, some may prefer it for one or another. Klipsch is a brand with many models, so you'd have to be more specific about which ones you're interested in as to getting comments. I like their older larger speakers like the Heritage series; I've read many nice comments about the newer RP series.

Subwoofer brand need not match the speaker brand, and would depend where you are for suggestions (I ask because you indicate english isn't your primary language); the US has more sub choices than many other countries....

I can order from amazon too if the speaker, subwoofer and avr are good.
If i build the 5.1 system, do you have any suggestions?

Might try some of your home grown speakers like PSB or Paradigm, too. Sub selection can be a bit limited up your way, tho. Drugstores in Canada sell hifi gear? Best Buy is down here but Vision doesn't mean anything to me. I've bought gear thru Amazon, they don't have a huge selection or even competitive pricing at times, so it can be hit or miss as to what you're looking for.
