Home 12" sub replacement

Hi I have a JBL PSW 1200 powered subwoofer I need to upgrade my 12-inch subwoofer it is not the original JBL that came in it I was just curious what would be one of the best subwoofers and 100 to $200 range my receiver is a denon 3311ci and sense I have 2 sub outs i put my paradigm pro series PDR 10 and it now sounds like there is air coming from the speaker and I only had it hooked up less then an hour so that one I will Probally reform cause it does sound awesome I will just adjust it and turn the volume I guess I expect everytime to play max volume thus in case is why I need the beat 12" sub for my jbl psw 1200

You should post this in the DIY sub-forum more than this one (this one is more general, more about commercially available subs).

Sub boxes tend to work best with the driver they're designed for, particularly ported ones. You can match up a particular driver to a box design using the driver's T/S parameters (Thiele Small parameters) and appropriate software (like winISD). Even the amp might be customized with eq for a particular driver/box combo. This article may help https://www.audioholics.com/diy-audio/building-a-do-it-yourself-loudspeaker-design/driver-selection. Just popping any old driver of the same diameter isn't likely to produce optimal results; you might try to reverse engineer it if you have the T/S parameters of the original driver.

It might be better to simply get a quality sub driver and build a box designed for it. Parts-express.com has drivers in your price range (and in some cases even a flatpack box can be bundled with them, or flatpacks from the same supplier can be had thru diysoundgroup.com). This is a design for a sub using a reasonably priced driver, and you can peruse the diy subforum here for other builds.

Doubtful JBL still sells the driver for that particular box but have you asked? What is the make/model of the driver in the box now?

The driver is a Dual 12" 4 ohm car subwoofer that I had laying around in the shed

Dual makes sub drivers now? No model number? Last I had something of that brand was one of their record players....and glancing at the wiki, the brand is far from its origins now.

Ya I don't know about the old ones but I have had 2 -12" dual in my car that were beat to all he'll and repaired several timrs and I have to say I was blown away buy the bass and they were bought from wall Mart for 29.97 each and I have had 3- 12" JL audio w0 in my car and will they not no JL Audio but man they sounded pretty damn close so for my next car sub I going 29.99 dual

About 10-12 years ago, when I was researching car audio, Dual was like the J.C. Whitney of that realm. Always stating extraordinary peak wattage values instead of actual RMS values etc. It worked ok or probably better than it should have. Or, perhaps otherwise tended to show just how overpriced their name brand competitors were even though manufactured in the same countries.
