As a Life long Saints fan and being a native New Orleans myself, it saddens me that this man passed away. His Legacy and what he has done not just for the City of New Orleans and the Great State of Louisiana for what He has done with his many charitable contributions and his endless effort in helping with humanitarian Aid during Katrina, Rita back in 2005. He will surely be missed.

My brother-in-law is a big Saints fan. He caught onto them as a law student at Tulane, and it's never left him.

I never knew anything about the fellow, sorry. Just the same, I express condolences to his family, friends, and fans who know him better than I. May he rest in peace.

BTW, I think there's a better part of the forum for this. It should be moved to "Steam Vent" or similar.

Yeah, I was up early in the morning trying to figure out how to start a new thread on this site, gave up went back to the start of the site and saw 'New Beginners' if one of the MODS, don't mind moving this to the appropriate, would be greatly appreciated..My very first Saints game in person was in Tulane Stadium, Saints against the Eagles my father took me to it back in the early 70's. Super Dome wasn't built yet. Thank You for your kind words for Mr. Benson, if you do a little Googling and research him a bit his many, many charitable contributions not just to the state of Louisiana, City of New Orleans, his charitable contributions to the Army, in the Museum's that he helped with a very big helping hand in goes way beyond his riches he accumulated in his lifetime.

Lolo, loveinthehd, you just made my morning! when his NFL team Saint's or as most use to know his team before he took over the Aint's aka..bagheads..lol.. His first season of winning above 8-8, he broke out with that ' dancing with the umbrella him and his wife' is what made him somewhat of a TV personality, famous for. But as most if not All of the NFL team owners, are a little more or less eccentric. Some of the NFL owners in my book, Benson and the one that owns the Atlanta Falcons he looks like 'Elmer Fudd' Benson, May he rest in peace and Arthur Falcons owner two of the funniest owners in the NFL.

Yes, I seem to remember when they started pointing the tv cameras at his boogieing when they played my 49ers....owned by my favorite NFL owner Eddie deBartolo (who got in trouble down your way, dangit).

Umm...between You and I when Saints where in the West division with the 49ers those where some of the best 'match' games played in the NFL at the time. Montana and Steve Young, Don't need to say anything about Joe Montana's record speaks for itself. Steve Young was no slouch either. As for the owner at the time one of his worst decisions was rubbing shoulders with the Governor of Louisiana. The rest of the story you know.
