Dear Experts

I am upgrading my living room and want to install a new system with 2 floor standing speakers + Centre speaker + sub (klipsh). The receiver maybe Yamaha RXA 1070 or a step down from this.

My question: can I use the same receiver or what is the best receiver for movies and music stereo listening. Or is it better to get a dedicated stereo receiver where you can switch back and forth between AV receiver and stereo receiver.

THank you
Imad

I use an AVR for both music and HT in both of my systems. I would make sure that the model of your AVR includes a phono input if you are planning to use a TT. The phono inputs are usually only availabl on a manufacturer's higher end model.

Just get a regular surround sound AVR. It will only use the front two channels when you are just listening to stereo recordings, unless you turn on some DSP mode that extends the sound to other channels.
