Yamaha RX-A820 amps versus ATI AT522 for two-channel system

Big difference in nominal output. What is the Yamaha voltage like at a similar volume level (hard to compare the scales between the two, too I'd think). Curious if any audible difference using speaker levels to plus 8 instead? (assuming the Yamaha is using a relative volume scale with 0 being reference).

Perhaps this is not the best way to go about it but I am using the Oppo BDP-105 for volume control. The dedicated stereo outs XLR are connected directly to the AT522NC amp. The Oppo dedicated RCA outs are connected to the analog input on the Yamaha RX-A820.

I played a 60Hz sine-wave on the Oppo and adjusted its volume to 33 to obtain 2.7 volts on the AT522NC.

Then switching to the Yamaha, I increased the volume until it also measured 2.7 volts (the +8 value). The two should be level matched for comparison.

The 2-Way Amp Amplifier switcher worked but ultimately was not a useful tool. It is attenuating the bass from the AT522NC. I decided to return it and stacked the components to just switch the cables.

I had another slightly less el-cheapo meter (TP9605) "True RMS". It is not very stable at 30Hz and anything above 1kHz.

Here are the measurement with this meter. I am able to volume match withing a max of .15 DB at approximately 2.7 volts.
