We are talking about one of the best drivers ever made not some unknown quantity. If you go to Data-Bass you'll see this driver in builds that are very close to the top. Unfortunately normal porting isn't really practical due to how much air it moves. It's really designed for sealed operation or IB operation. Although it does amazing things in a horn apparently. It's not really a practical horn for a home theater though.
In my book, it cannot be considered as one of the best drivers if you need to EQ it to achieve a reasonably decent smooth response. As you know, there are other subwoofers on the market that don't need that kind of processing to do an adequate job IMHO.
I did some verification using the BassBox Pro software and that driver, in an IB operation,won't reach low frequencies unless you EQ it. It's Qts is too low.
It represents, when properly EQ'd, a good driver for movies and rock music, but not for serious music listening.
