@Bailey69, On your remote look down to the left side of it, there is a button it says 'info' push it and it will show you on the display of your unit, DSP Program, Audio Decoder, and Input. Yamaha goes about displaying a little different than the rest of the manufacturers. Took me a lil while to get use to it. Now if your unit is hooked up by HDMI, On your remote next to the cursor buttons middle ways to the right side of your remote hit the 'Display' button OSD will pop up it will show what your unit is running in, surround format, TrueHD, Atmos..ect..

@Bailey69, how are you liking your A870?

I have his lil brother, doesn't have Atmos or DTS-X, l couldn't use those anyways my room can't account for the extra speakers. I can barely use 5.1 in my room cause I can't get the surrounds like they should be set but it's close enough I still get a very nice surround out of it. Once you have experience a good surround setup don't believe I could ever go back to anything else. I may upgrade to the A1070 or A1050 if I can find one come OCT of this year. Never will use all the bells and whistles that it has I just want the build quality and the better chip sets it has. The one I have now is TSR-7790, picked it up from Accessories4less for 3 bills. Unit has performed flawlessly to date.

I figured it out. Running our of my Xbox one and I have the xboxs output setting on 7.1 uncompressed. Changed it to bitstream and now receiver reads DTS. All is well.
