Hello:

Finally pulled the trigger and bought some Totem KIN Mini's (left & right) and a KIN Mini Flex center.

The question is should I purchase their sub or go another direction?

Receiver is a TEAC AG -H500 rated at 45 watts per channel.

Thank you!

Not sure of your location , but you can do better than their subs.

Are you using for HT? If so, I would probably go with something that could hit deeper and harder.

Your speakers are small with 90Hz as the low end.

Do you have size constraints on your subwoofer?
What are dimensions of the room? (include height)

For starters, you might check the RSL Speedwoofer 10 and see if it would fit your criteria. It is designed to play nice with smaller speakers.

It is still not very strong for HT, but not too big and has Data-bass as well as AH review, so is a known (as good) quantity. Compared to any 110 Watt 6" sealed sub, it will put out a lot but should still be good for a 90-100Hz crossover!

How are you going to use a center speaker with a stereo receiver? That receiver doesn't have a sub pre-out let alone bass management. You'll need a sub that has speaker-level inputs. Had no idea Totem even had a sub, tho would help to have a budget.

Home theater use - 65% - Music 35% (Rock & Country)

9' ceilings
Room size - 20 x 40 - Living room open to kitchen & nook
Listening area - 15x15

Trying to fit whatever sub I purchase in an opening that is 15 1/8" wide.

Thank you for your assistance!

It's a 2 channel receiver, it doesn't have output for a center channel. The speaker itself can be hooked up, it just won't get a center channel's information as the receiver doesn't have that ability. Were you planning on hooking it up to the "b" speaker terminals and running a/b simultaneously or something? I seem to remember you are choosing things mostly based on size so it fits in your allotted space?

ps At least that's what I found when looking up your brand/model....

It should have a center channel - see link below - am I missing something

https://www.ebay.com/i/253342490831?rt=nc

What does the sub hook up to - I'm really a novice
The Teac AG-H500 examples I found were all stereo receivers, maybe they recycled the model number for a different unit....what do you mean "should", though, do you actually have this unit?

From those ebay pics look in the lower left corner for the pre-outs, one is for a sub. You have a manual for your unit? It hopefully has bass management (to allow you to set a crossover between your speakers/sub).

PS Just noticed you posted AG-H500 but the ebay photo is of an AG-H550....

You say you have an AG-500, but the eBay receiver you references is an AG-550. Which do you have?

An AG-550 will support a center speaker and sub, the AG-500 will not and will not do what you want.

Even then the AG-550 has no HDMI connectivity and will be of limited use. A lot of units now only have HDMI outputs.

You have made the classic mistake of choosing equipment to fit a space, instead of making a space for the equipment required. You have gone about this backwards, and will pay a big penalty, more so going forward.

Sorry for the typo. Yes i have an AG H550.

I really thought going with the optical input would be adequate, maybe not, will see.

Thank you all for your input!

Optical is fine depending on the source unit but many still have optical output.
