Hi all,

I'm new here and really enjoying the forums. I just got a CA cxr200 that is replacing a 12 yo Yamaha. I love the sound and power that the cxr200 delivers. my problem is that it is NOT USER FRIENDLY! I'll admit that I've been out of the AV loop for a while but I did do plenty of research before I made this purchase. Can anybody point me in the right direction as far as using all of the new features this unit has. I have submitted two different requests to Cambridge Audio support, but have not gotten any response yet. My biggest problem is with connecting the cxr200 to my network. If anyone has any experience with Cambridge audio receivers, I would appreciate any advise.

Thanks

The instructions on pages 27/28 of your manual look pretty straight forward. What is the problem you're having? You are reading the manual, right?

I've read the manual and the online reference manual, several times. The WiFi connection is spotty at best. When I have to enter my password, the only way I see to do it is to scroll through the alphabet both small and capital letters and numbers as well as all the symbols with individual pushes of the buttons on the remote. at this rate my remote will be worn out in no time. None of my other av components have any trouble accessing and staying connected to my network. My oppo bluray player, for instance, connects to my WiFi network flawlessly every time with the push of a button.

So you have punched in the password and connected to wifi at some point but it loses the connection? Or does it lose the connection before you can finish entering the password? I've had that issue with my lousy internet service myself. Yes password entry with remotes aren't my favorite either but ya gets the hand you're dealt. :) Is there any way to position the avr/router to get a better connection?

It takes about 3 minutes each time I have to enter the password. I usually get "connecting to network" message but it never actually connects. I am going to try using a USB WiFi connector extension cord that came with my oppo BR player. Maybe that will allow for a better connection. I'll try that tomorrow. I could use a wired connection, but I prefer less wires to more wires. And yes, I did get it to connect for a while yesterday.

Meant to ask earlier, does the Oppo have a WPS button to use to connect to your router or something? My receivers don't have such, always have to manually enter the password....

I use separate STBs for all my access. Although most AVRs can access PCs or other storage units, I've found for minimal investment I can get a great AV client that has no issues playing any format that is on server/pc with a intuitive interface

I'm not sure if the oppo has the WPS function, I haven't had to mess with the network connection at all since I've had it.

I like EverettT's idea....why do you particularly need the avr to be on the network?

EverettT, could you elaborate about the "separate stb's"? Sorry, I'm just not very computer network literate.

I guess the reason I want the avr on the network is to have the ability to access and stream HD audio. I'll be the first to admit that I am very green when it comes to downloading and/or streaming HD audio.

It can, yes. I'm the type that needs to get things working as they should. A little OCD I guess.

LOL. I do like my apps in the avr to work as well.
