Has the cable specs changed that requires me to buy new HDMI cables to support 4K and HDR or is this one of those cable myth's?

lovinthehd answered with the table of HDMI spec's, so I will give him a high five.
what I would say to anyone considering a 4K purchase is to go ahead and spring for a new "high speed" HDMI cable as well. Something within reason. Try it out and then try it out with one of your older HDMI cables and see if you can "see" a difference. I'd like to vet this out a bit. They have improved the standard, but does it really mean a visible difference? Dunno. But $20 bucks should provide a working answer

The reason why I posted this is I cant get my Sammy UN65KU6491 goes blank during an HDR 60fps test. I thought it may have been the cable but the problem is the AVR. It can't pass 4K through its HDMI. I now have to sit and figure out my rewiring scheme.

good to know that's something to check out. I have heard of that, but had forgotten about it.

I had a similar issue with an older cable I had. Granted it was a very long cable, but a new "high speed" cable solved the problem. $13 for a 25' cable aint so bad.
