I was looking for a personal response from someone who owns an SR5012 so they can measure how deep with the cables attached, not the specs
I'm in the process of looking for a new media console and would like to know the depth of the Marantz SR5012 including the speaker cables attached...thanks in advance
First, add a couple of inches to whatever you think you'll need. Second, don't expect an off the shelf cabinet to have exactly what you need unless it was designed/build by a company that actually understands what's needed. The one thing I have found when dealing with cabinetry is that cabinetmakers don't understand ventilation, the need for space WRT a large number of cables and the need to be able to work with the equipment when it's inside.
Not doing this to pile on, but you asked questions without specifying the connection types- if the speaker cables have banana plugs, do the wires enter from the end, or the side? If you don't intend to change the connections, I would recommend NOT using banana plugs.
Also, it's far more likely that the HDMI cables will cause more problems than the speaker wiring- HDMI plugs are a terrible design and can be very fragile, so use the most flexible cables you can find. For the short cables in the cabinet, I recommend Vanco- they're thin, very flexible and their Sure Fit series have small clips at each end that prevent slipping out of the port. If the HDMI to the TV is less than 10', you can use the same series of cable- it really makes life easier when you don't need to bend a cable that doesn't like to be bent.
