HI, I haven't poster in a long time. I have a 5.1.2 system with all B&W 800 series 3s/4d htm2d and an ASW825. I am repairing a small power problem on it and was considering replacing the sub all together with something less (expensive) like Velodyne spl800 or Klipsch R15 even less money OR keeping the system as is and maybe adding another ASW825 or 855 which I can do for about the same money I could sell my 825 and throw in $1200. OLD VS NEW and OLD more powerful vs New less powerful or smaller driver size. Any helpful thoughts would be greatly appreciated. My sub and or the one I would add would of course be in excellent condition. thanks

First of all B & W subs are not that good, which tends to be true of most European subs in general.
None of your list has decent good value subs.

Look at Rhythmic, SVS and HSU if you are contemplating a new sub purchase.

Ive heard good things about svs and velodyne. Especially velodyne with built in spl meter although i have arc with my anthem avm60 and mc250 amp. I was questioning timbre being that the 825/855 was constructed to run with the 800 series or doesnt that matter ?

It does not matter.

Personally I would not have Velodyne in my top 3. I have given you mine. I would look at Rhythmic first.

No special matching is required with a sub for your speakers. B&W subs aren't particularly good IMO. Velodyne is coasting along on their past with subwoofers these days it seems. I'd look to Rythmik, SVS, Hsu, Power Sound Audio, Seaton, JTR, Deep Sea Sounds and Funk depending on your requirements and taste in furniture....and budget.

Actually thinking about doubling down with a BW asw855 as a second and keep it vintage
