Subwoofer volume randomly goes berserk. Sub or receiver problem?

I have the following situation - sometimes while i'm watching movies subwoofer volume goes out of control, and volume control on the subwoofer does nothing (volume level stays the same). Sometimes it helps if I switch mode on subwoofer or plug/unplug it.

Reciever is Marantz SR5004 and sub is Monitor Audio R370HD, connected on LFE out on receiver.

I accidentaly discovered the following: if I touch the back metal plate on sub with one hand (while power cable is plugged in) and touch the tip of RCA cable with other hand (plugged in receiver, unplugged from sub), I feel some static/current on my hand, even when receiver is unplugged from power.

I have tried plugging in subwoofer in 2 different sockets, behaviour is exact in both cases.

Anybody has the idea what might be the problem?

Would seem likely that it's the sub not the AVR if only the sub volume is being affected. Seems like the perfect opportunity to get a subwoofer upgrade

I would like it to repair it, but if it's the amp which I suspect it is, it's better to buy a new sub then replace an amp which is pretty pricey.

If I would go on route to replace an subwoofer, which one would you recommend?
My room is around 20m2 (6x3.5) and listening position is on the shorter end (3.5 meters). I'm located in Croatia, Europe so take that in mind

I've heard good things about SVS SB-1000, but it's not available in Croatia.

There is nice selection, but kinda lacking with subwoofer design, specially from U.S.A.
Im not so far from Austria where almost everyhting is available, but I prefer to order locally.

Can you recommend some subs, without worrying are they available in my country and I'll try to find them

I think there are only available in UK (can't find dealers outside UK).

Others have been able to buy in various parts of europe...contact them....
