I agree, but Yamaha needs to work on improving their "hard reset" to factory default routine so that they can open it up for the users to unstuck themselves from the kind of mess you got into due purely to software glitches. As far as I know the D&M AVRs factory reset are still as they were before, that the user can in fact reset the unit to factory condition, i.e. the way they were packed before they leave the factory.
Come to think of it, when I was read every part of the manual that mentioned "reset", I did notice something weird about it, the fact that none of the methods (iirc, about 3) they mentioned, appeared to be similar to the traditional sort of factory reset routines. Thanks to your sharing, we now know the hidden way that was not published in the owner's manual.
