Hi,

Can you recommend a Euro or simply non chi-fi amp in the $2000 price range?

Looking at Naim Nait 5si and Rega Elicit-R or Elex R but not sure how to connect digital input. Looks like all three have only RCA on the back. No TOSLINK or USB.....

I have a nice pair of Focal 706's that are fine so 75W ample....

Thanks,

Texaz

So just "designed" in europe works?
No I'd rather pay for the Euro/non china 100% device.

Past couple years have seen a number chinese made electronics fail on me. 2 NAD amps, Sangean shortwave 2 iPhones, coffee grinder, juicer, computers etc....

Thanks,

Texaz

This integrated amp is sold Internet Direct, made in the USA (Indianapolis, IN):

Odyssey Cyclops
  • 2×110 watts (RMS at 8 ohm load)
  • $1095, shipping extra
  • Comes with a "minimalist design", no remote control and only one input.

I think I'd be looking into your electrical service, and then perhaps, a robust surge protector. I'm not fond of Chinese electronics/components but they've found their way into everything, including my "True Blue" Miller welding machines. Still, what I have manages to stand the test of time and I am what is considered a heavy, if not continuous, user.

I went and looked at the amp on their website. You are not kidding. minimalist design indeed.
they are so minimalist they don't even tell you what the one and only one input is !

Seems, per page 12 of the "unified" product manual source connection illustration, that they're rca type. :)

ATI makes some nice amps in the USA (also sold under the Outlaw and Monolith names), but it sounds like you are after an integrated amp or you will need a pre-amp.
I'm not sure what company might make a non-china pre or integrated.
Some of the nicer Denon AVR's are made in Japan, not sure if that makes a difference for you or not, but perrhaps some of the better Marantz seperates are also made in Japan.

For some reason I though Emotiva was talking about bring production back to the USA???

Amplifiers don't have digital inputs. What you're looking for integrated amp (which is pre-amp + amp) or a stereo receiver.
