Marantz av5006 receiver power on problem.

Recently my receiver has been turning itself off after I turn it on. The red power light starts blinking when it shuts down. After I power it back on 3 times in a row it will stay on. What could be causing this? Hoping for a cheap and easy fix. Can't afford a new one at this time! Sorry!! It's a 5003 model.

Did you try a factory reset?
Google "marantz sr5003 factory reset". You don't really have to find it for your specific model, most of the Marantz's from the same period all use the same key combinations to reset.
It may not fix your issue, but just like rebooting a computer it is a good thing to try before you move on to more expensive options.
However, you will need to rerun Audyssey and reconfigure any settings that you have made such as assigning inputs, etcetera.

Check for any stray strands of speaker wires possibly shorting it out, both at the avr and speaker terminals. Factory reset would be my next option, too.

I checked the speaker wires and they were ok. So I did the factory reset and it worked! Thanks for the advice KEW and loveinthehd. I appreciate it!!

A little late, but sometimes a soft reset will do it (just unplugging it for a while) and that way your settings are retained....

Blinking red light = AVR going to protection.

When this happened to me, the HDMI board had to be replaced.
