Pioneer vsx 552 no video only sound?

Hi there

Recently moved house and tried to hook up the sound system again and I cannot get video to display, only audio comes through

Im hooking up a ps4 via HDMI.

I tried a factory reset and now there is scrolling text saying
“Thank youPlayback MP3 Music File IPOD Digital Playback MCACC Easy Setup Ideal Sound Field HDMI 3D Ready Game USB” scrolling nonstop on the receiver

Tried multiple cables to no avail. Hooked it all up the exact way it was before moving and still no picture.

Any suggestions?

What avr? Have you tried a soft reset (i.e. unplugging it for a while)? Or a full reset of the avr (microprocessor reset)?

Yep, all four HDMI inputs on the receiver and two on the tv, tried every possible combo but still no video, only audio

If you've already done the hard (microprocessor) reset a couple of times it may be needing a qualified technician or replacement....but the soft reset before you hooked it all up again wouldn't mean a lot.

Curious, did you repack it in the original box or similar packing care for the move?

That’s what I was afraid of. I don’t have the original box but I wrapped it up in a to towel and put it by itself in a large box.

Just strange that the audio through the HDMI works perfectly but the video is gone

My Pioneer 919 died of hdmi issues....

Don't panic just yet! Read that thread that was linked, and I had post#2.

1) Your AVR seems to be stuck in some sort of "Demo Mode", with the way that info just keeps scrolling across it. You need to browse the manual or the forums to figure out how to get it out of that demo mode.
2) I have had similar problems on my Pio Elite VSX-82 over the years. Every time, it was simply figuring out which button to hit on the remote to correct this problem! I've had my cat step on the remote and kill my audio but video worked, or kill my video while audio kept working.

I'm giving you a greater than 50% chance that you have some setting or config that got out of whack by mistake, and as soon as you find the button on the remote, you will get it going again!

First time this happened to me, it took me a while to figure out!

Here is my info from that other thread that was linked here. This one was dealing with the audio problem, for ME on MY Pio, I believe the "Signal Select" button controls the audio, while "Video" controls the video signal, but I'm not sitting in front of it right now. Also, you may have the signal set to "analog video", where it needs to be "digital" or "auto".

Time again and again....we need to get Gene to set up a sticky for "Pio Elite No Audio".

Look for a "Signal Select Button" on your remote and push it a few time to cycle through the options. Probably something like "Analog, Digital, Auto". It is very likely that you accidentally hit that button, you are feeding the AVR a digi signal via HDMI, but you accidentally hit that button and told the AVR that it should be playing an analog signal.

The first time it happened to me, it took a long time to figure out what happened.

Never ran into such a demo mode with my Pioneer nor any other avr....but I'd think it should be overcome by the hard resets if it is a settings thing, or even such a demo mode....but always worth a little extra time before chucking something aside....

Go into the OSD Home menu.
1. Select FL Demo Mode
2. Select OFF

Turn AVR OFF for 30 seconds and Restart.

OK, another thought here, what signal is it set to for video? 1080i, 720p, 1080p, auto?

Do you have any video processing engaged? If you do, then turn it off. If you don't, then try to turn it on.

You may be at end of life on the AVR, but I would at least try those few items first.

My Pio Elite 82 is a bit notorious for having a steep learning curve! Of course, I didn't know that until after purchase, I wasn't nearly as deep into the hobby 10 years ago when I bought it.

After a couple years, I knew this thing backwards and forwards! Part of the reason that I haven't taken the plunge on an upgrade yet.

Change the cable. If you're using an HDMI with the Redmere chip, it won't work with 4K HDR/Full color. That's what I was told by Vanco and it's also what my clients experienced last Saturday evening when they were at their vacation home, three hours from here. No lights, just sound. Effing HDMI! It needs to go away.

Hello...did you experience the whole set up strategy after the factory reset? Do it if not.
Check the information allot menu to ensure that the HDMI input you are utilizing is effectively doled out to the information assignment.
Find out the manual as well.
