Subwoofer help

I need help with picking out a sub for home theater setup that I have in my living room. My floorplan is open concept being open to my kitchen and dining measuring roughly 5700 cubic feet. My delima is the waf. So the size has to be small she wants me to fit them inside of the entertainment center when not in use so the largest I can go is basically a 16 inch cube. I can go duals to help but have only found a couple of choices that will fit the size, sb-2000 and RSL speedwoofer10s. Looking for the best option. The subs will be placed inside the cupboards of the tv stand.

Two small subs in 5700 cuft can only do so much. WAF can be very limiting when it comes to subs. I'd want at least two 18"s or 21"s in that size space, and probably more. I wouldn't put them in your cabinets either, I'd build cabinets to suit (perhaps a nice pair of large end tables with decent WAF?). I'd rather have two SB2000s than two speedwoofers in any case.

Open to other suggestions. I just listed the ones i have found that fit the size of cupboards. I will only have them on when watching movies and will move them out of the cupboards when using them. I know its not ideal but what the wife will allow. Only other place would be under end tables but size isnt much different with those measurements being 16h 19w 18d. My budget is around $1200.

Not a lot of possibilities with your restraints other than diy and different placement (which is key anyways for subs). I wouldn't allow that cabinet in the first place personally....but I'm happily single

This post is really depressing. What about husband approval factor? Like lovinthehd said, that entertainment cabinet is a nightmare, no offense.

Get a couple SVS SB-2000 subs, that is your best best in your criteria.

I'm married and wouldn't allow it. There's a WAF at my house, but there's also a HAF. It's a shared space, afterall. There are some things I wouldn't allow and a cabinet like that... uh uh. Too much compromise for sound.

Like i said my other option is under end tables that are on each side of the couch. Which is the main listening position. The couch is in the middle of the room with an end table on each side. I can go duals but not much wiggle room for size or price. The end tables are open and the sub wouldnt be touching any part of the table if the sub is within these size requirements. 17hx19wx18d and 1200 is my budget. With the way room is set up I really don't have anywhere else I could put the sub. So its either in the cupboards and bringing them out when watching movies which i know would be a pain or under the end tables in the middle of the room.

Subs under an end table can work very well. I've see builds where the sub basically is the end table. The question is, how much room do you have for a sub under there?

*Edit: Just saw your dimensions. Another question would be, just how important is how it sounds vs WAF? More restrictions means less quality.

I don't have the dimensions of the SB2000's in front of me, but if they'll fit that's very good subwoofer. If you can wiggle 'em in I think you'd be pretty happy with results. Just bear in mind if it's a large area they might be a little underpowered. More bass is going to require a larger cabinet.

Looks like it measures 14" (14.6" (H) 14.2" (W) 15.4" (D)) all the way around. They have a few in their outlet right now (there's one with the black oak finish for $629). I've had great experiences with SVS and with their customer bill of rights, there really is no risk. You have 45 days to make up your mind whether or not you like it. If you don't, ' ship 'em back and SVS will pay shipping.

If you do under the end tables keep in mind power cords and connecting cables can also be waf issues

I can run them along the baseboards then under the rug and couch. Or do the wireless and just have the power cord
