Yamaha RX-V2500 issue

Long time reader, first time poster. I've been working on getting together a second system for my game room powered by a Yamaha RX-V2500. The issue I'm having is I cannot change the front speaker size to large which really limits my sound in this room. I, unfortunately, do not have a remote that came with the receiver when I got it second hand. However, I do have the remote that came with my RX-V1600 in my living room. This remote, through some digging, is a different model than the one that came with the RX-V2500. I have found that, for whatever reason, the change between remotes that screws me over is the arrow keys on the remote. I can successfully navigate to the appropriate option in the menu to change speaker size but cannot change from small to large.

I either need A) an alternate way to change this setting or B) a list of remote codes for the RX-V2500 and an appropriate app to use on a phone with an IR Blaster so I can setup a profile to hopefully change this nagging setting.

I have, for reference, tried a reset on the receiver to not avail. Any other ideas from the audio experts out there? Thank you!!

I’d try to get a used replacement remote from ebay. There’s on up for sale now for $50.

Why not invest in a Harmony universal remote control..
Available on e-bagger for <$25, and Harmony/Logitech have an excellent IR code library for Yamaha products.

Just my $0.02... ;)
This may end up being the route I got just because it's most cost efficient. Plus, I could use the remote somewhere else later on, even though I can't think of where haha

I thought about that but I don't really want to pay $50+ (they were hovering around $70 last time I checked) for a remote just so I can change one setting on a receiver that gets little use as of right now. I know my options are rather limited so it may come to that, who knows. I know if I one day want to sell this that a receiver without a remote won't sell very well but on the other hand, I won't get my $50 out of the remote that I purchased. It's a catch 22!

U mentioned early on about the budget.. Thats why we recommended the Harmony solution.. The Harmony solution is more flexible, as it is activity based rather than device based. And will control other brands/models even going forward...

Just my $0.02.. ;)

Good point. I may have to snag one. I even checked Logitech's site and it says fully compatible with my receiver so that's good!

On a side note, I swear I had bought a Logitech Harmony remote at some point in the past at a garage sale or something but the problem with being an electronics hoarder is you can never find anything! :D

Edit: As luck would have it, I found one on a local for sale page for $15 so I'm going to snag that after work and get this thing straightened out!

Hey now, both my subs are staying in the living room! That being said, someone had a 10" Polk sub for sale locally last week for $30 but I missed it  :D because, ya know...I need more ;)

LOL love my Harmony remotes, hope you didn't get the 350, had to return that one. I have the 600 and 650s.

I snagged the 300 (previous version of the 350), Logitech's site says it supports the receiver I need so as long as it changes the one setting I need, it'll be $15 well spent.

Actually now that you mention it it was the 300....looks the same. It refused to cooperate with the online database, could never use it, but believe it had a unique way of accessing the database at the time that I didn't need for the 650 I had at the time....
