Quick question that I hope someone can help ke with. My new receiver is a Denon avr-x3200w and it has pre-outs. My old Denon avr-483 has ext in.
If I use the old receiver as an amp, what should the volume be set at?

Thanks for your help.

You should level match the old amp to the new one. It will require an SPL meter.

1. With the speakers connected to the 3200, play a test signal (preferably pink noise) and adjust the main volume until the SPL meter reads ~75 db.

2. Turn off all equipment and connect the speakers to the 483, and then the 483 to the 3200. Start with the 483 volume control all the way down. Play the test signal again, and increase the 483 volume control until the SPL meter reads ~75 db.
