Looking to replace an old ONK TXSR605 (one HDMI input blew). I only use 5.1 but like the ability to expand to 7.1 (wife will not allow .2 lol.) Mostly looking for 4k ability with the release of xbox one x coming. Seemed to me DENONAVR-X2300W would be my best option. My current set up is:
onkyo sr605
polk towers up front and rear r50s
polk center (model escapes me but similar to r50s)
svs PB12-NSD sub

Will be using for gaming and tv mostly. Budget <$500 if possible. Would prefer new unless certain refurbished carry the same warranty.
I do not see the benefit of the denonavr-x3300 over the x2300, unless someone sees something I am missing.
Thank you for the help

Audyssey MultEQ XT32/SubEQ is a significant improvement over Audyssey MultEQ XT.

ah thank you, so worth the extra money.
That could depend somewhat on what the price spread is, at msrp level that's a $200 difference. Still has to be worth it to you....and if you want to see all the differences use the comparison tool on the Denon site...https://usa.denon.com/us/product/productcomparison/receivers?cat=hometheater

One other major difference to me would be that the 3300 has a full set of pre-outs for future amplification options, the 2300 has only sub pre outs.

any other thoughts on models that would serve my purpose other than the two denons?

Marantz and Yamaha also make very good receivers.

Do you really desire the x300 Denon series for the Audyssey app for further customization? @Pogre has some experience with this. If that isn't even on your radar you might get a better deal on the x200 series. I like Audyssey and Denon myself, would also consider Marantz and Yamaha. Have you shopped at accessories4less.com?

I did look at the site yes. Will look and read more for sure. x300 is a little more than probably I was looking to spend.
Will take a look at Marantz and yamaha, thank you.

It really just boils down to whether the unit provides the features/connectivity you want with an amp section that works for your speakers...the room correction software aspect (Audyssey vs YPAO) may or may not be important to you.

I ended up pulling the trigger on a refurbished AVR-X3300W at a4L. ty for your help.

Because he got it before the sale?
I've said it many times before: if you have the PATIENCE and TIME, you can pay LESS buying BRAND NEW DENON from Amazon or Fry's, instead of buying REFURBISHED DENON from A4L.

In this case, a brand new Denon X3300 from Amazon is $599 (w/shipping) vs a REFURBISHED Denon X3300 from A4L is $659 (w/shipping). So that's paying $60 more on a Refurbished X3300, instead of a BRAND NEW denon X3300.

If you don't have the patience and/or time, then this doesn't apply. :D

Unfortunately for him, I never said that to him because I didn't see this thread on time.

But maybe others will see this thread and they have the time.

That is a great deal!
I have seen Amazon open box returns (but still new) beat A4L's price on occasion, but had not noticed brand new as less expensive.
Do you have any sense of the "rhythm" of this?
IOW, how much patience is required?
Is it quarterly, or annual?
I don't really expect you to have a crystal ball on this, but you do seem to have a better awareness than most of us so wondering if you could "ball park" it, or if there is any regularity.
Thanks!

If I were planning on buying, I would bet mid-Summer and late-Fall.

But it seems I've seen these 40-50% off sale about every 3 - 4 months.

Of course, my eyes would be peeled on Amazon every day if I were buying because you just never know.

But as many AH as we have, coming here every day is also a good plan. :)

Do you ever see these kinds of deals on the Denon flagships?
(6300 or 7200)

I have not seen big deals on the Denon 6000 or 7000 series.

I have seen 60% off on the Denon 4520.
