CEC or How to Setup HDMI Control Properly

Hello friends,
I have an Apple TV, Marantz AV8801 and Panasonic TV hooked up together through the processor.
I would like the TV and the processor to turn on automatically when I turn on the Apple TV so I enabled the HDMI Control on all these devices.
This works fine.
Problem is, when I want to watch TV without the processor (listen through the TV speakers), if all the AV equipment is turned off and I turn the TV on, the processor wakes up too.
Is it possible to prevent processor from turning on automatically when I turn on the TV?
Thanks!

Yes, it is possible.

What you do is your turn OFF HDMI-CEC, and you go buy a decent f'n universal remote control.

HDMI-CEC sucks, it doesn't read your mind, it has no idea what you want, and you can't change it or touch it or manipulate it to fit your standards. It is, one of the least thought out solutions that HDMI ever delivered, along with failing to include 2-channel stereo at all times.

You may use it the way it is, or you may get a remote that you can program to do exactly what you want.

Of course, you should never use your TV without using the decent speakers you purchased for it. People do this all the time, and it is their choice, but in no world does this ever make sense. Having a surround system on, at low volume should give better audio than the TV speakers ever will. We never, EVER, use the TV speakers, they just suck. Why not just get out of that habit and stick with your good stuff? Up to you of course.

Well, unfortunately this is not the ideal option for me since today I operate the AV system using my iPhone so I don't want another device besides me.

You mean it doesn't have voice command input yet? ;) :D

Put down the phone, get a actual remote. That way you will only have ONE device, and anyone can use it instead of having to borrow your phone all the time.

OR:
If you want to use your phone, there are a few dozen different true remote options for iPhone that allow it to act like a true universal remote control and handle everything properly.

Just a couple of real options available to you.
