Need Help Upgrading HT System for Better Music Listening

You can get away with lesser speakers for surrounds when budget limited, plus he already has the others to use....but would suggest better surrounds generally, particularly for surround music (and wouldn't matter for him much for music since he says he's going to do that 2ch style), should work well enough for most movies with his little sats in a room his size.
Thanks! I am looking at this as a process. I hope to keep making incremental improvements!

Why I like the sets from other manufacturers, fairly easy to make matching sets. Dynaudio is nice and all but generally has higher list prices than US competitors like Ascend, IMO; likely a better deal in europe than here. The Ascend Sierra-1s come with pricepoint praise, too. Love mine. Ascend customer service is quite good, too, you can even get Dave Fabrikant, the owner/designer of Ascend, to answer questions plus they're here in the US (altho components are from around the world like so many things now). The bamboo cabinets for the Sierra-1s are very solid, too.

340SE I never tried but think they may also work and free up the budget for surrounds a bit, altho stands can chew up some of that difference. I do have several 200SE and 170SE models as well (used as surrounds) as well as the Sierra-1s (and while I upgraded to the NrT tweeters, the stock tweeters are quite nice, will use them in a cabinet I'll build with their crossovers along with some new mid-woofs from Ascend).

I tend to agree lovinthehd, but my concern is matching a center to the Dynaudio X12s he's looking at. The C120 on eBay is gone, so he could consider looking for a single Dynaudio X12 as an alternate for the front center channel.

Of course then the Sub needs to be selected...

Are single X12's sold? And from where? Amazon has 'em at 1600/pr. Big deal to me if I can't get something on the internet (long drive to a city that might have something like that in a b&m store), don't know about the OP. I'd also not like to wait to complete the set if I bought the used pair. That's me, tho.

I figure he'd probably be looking to get a used single off eBay, Craigslist, etc. Sometimes a calamity occurs on one speaker and folks are left with a good one to sell. Same source for a compatible center speaker.
