I picked these up at what I think is a steal from a thrift store but can't identify them. Can you help? No branding or anything. Perhaps they are custom? If so, what would you use to play them? I'm a total noob and so appreciate any help.

Pictures of the speaker wire terminals don't help much. At least a pic of the front of the speaker with grill removed. Likely any receiver will work. May or may not be a steal....

There were a few more images in there. I'll post a couple to make things easier for folks.

Ps no idea of brand, but piano black cabinets and extruded drivers, I'd have grabbed em too.

Looks a bit like MA Silver 10 wannabe

But high quality piano finish my indicate this is a DIY job. I'd try to remove one of drivers, likely large side woofer and examine the xover. Removing tweeter and trying to identify maker could go long way as well.

I assume you checked on the bottom underside? By the looks of the cones they look like Klipsche but I can't be sure.

I agree that short of being gold, they do look like Klipsch woofers.
However, I honestly don't think Klipsch has ever made a speaker without a horn (possible exception being some mini/BT type speakers?)!

Looks pretty nice!
How much do they weigh (hold one while on scale then subtract out your weight)?
Heavy doesn't really guarantee quality, but light usually does indicate low quality!
Does it have grills (for woofer/PR) on both sides?

@John L.

Pull one of the driver's out take a look inside, or pull the speaker terminal out, see if any stuffings inside, looks like insulation but should be white in color. Snap some photos of the driver's and crossover, post the photos on your Thread. It will help to determine if you picked up a steal or not.

Looking cool doesn't always mean they sound great. But these do look cool! ;)

I did not notice the woofer on the side, now wondering if they are an early model of the Definitive Technology Mythos line? Just guessing!

There are a Lot of "cool" looking speakers on the Market..Some aren't as aesthetically looking as some of the cooler looking speakers. Let's just say what the OP paid for them just may be the best coolest sounding speakers for his "hobbits"..lolo..:D

Also my first thought was the DT line of sidefiring "subs" speakers....

Too bad John L. posted this two weeks ago and hasn't posted since. :( I'm curious as just what he has there. :cool:
