Well...got them upstairs and unboxed...I had the VTF15H mk2 on the brain...I bought a 50' XLR cable to run up over and down the wall to get it behind the seating...good I never opened it...have to send that back. I don't have a sub or any other RCA cable near that long to test it back there even if I just ran it across the floor. I'll play with one tonight and order another cable so I can finish this over the weekend.

Kevin's a good guy. Just for the sake of doing it I'd try up front too and see how you like it. I've never run a near field setup with subs before, so I'm not sure how I'd like it.

The new receiver was a bit of a tight fit, but I got it in there and it looks pretty good. So far I'm really liking XT32 with SubEQ. I also like the look of it better than any of my Denons. It just exudes awesome. Definitely deeper, taller and heavier too. It almost didn't fit in my cubby (not quite deep enough, but a good 6" of clearance on top, 4" on the sides)! It runs a little on the hot side so I ordered a fan for it... which literally just arrived at my door! I'll update my receiver thread or start a new one. I'm about to unbox.

Cool...I feel you on the size. I've been cognizant of the Marantz pre/pro height with the racks...it needs 8" to have any breathing room. Does the fan go on top or behind it?

I place my subs right behind the seat as well, but that was only after measuring many other locations. I get a pretty good response there. Not only that, but the 'punch' is really something. Localization can be a thing with such close proximity placement, but with two of them, you may be able overcome that if you spread them apart s bit. If such a placement puts the subs near the middle of the room, you will lose much of the low-end room gain, but with two VTF-3s, you will not need the help of room gain at all. You are going to get your ass kicked, and, trust me, it will be great.

Behind seating Kevin said if often the best spot in a space like mine, but I botched the long cable so it won't be tonight for me to test it back there.

I've never liked getting my ass kicked, but you've got me anxious to try it! LOL!

This is the main seating...I have about 5' behind,,,but these are recliners. I'll see.

They look nice up there. Your system is starting to look intimidating! I forgot about your room layout, but remember it clearly now. Behind the seats might be the way to go. In the meantime have fun playing with them up front. You might get them acceptably dialed in right where they're at.

They look nice up there. Your system is starting to look intimidating! I forgot about your room layout, but remember it clearly now. Behind the seats might be the way to go. In the meantime have fun playing with them up front. You might get them acceptably dialed in right where they're at.

Thanks...I finally got them hooked up and got the settings going...I guess speakers matter so I'm not going to bother with room EQ until my new speakers get in, but the VTF3.5s are beasts!

I have one up front to the right of the TV like you see in the pic and the other one I ended up moving behind the seating...I just played music last night with the volume dial at 9, actually dialed it back just a tad. I have a little dolly that can move them rather easily, I will play around with them some more tonight.

I got started on the wiring too late in the day last weekend...I got the RCA cable and speaker wires down the wall and out by the main seating area. It got too hot to get the wire neatly stapled in the attic and down the TV wall so the rears and Atmos are going to have to wait until Sat.

Update on the subs...they are still beasts, but now that I have them connected correctly a lot less so than before. My AV wasn't initially sending a signal to the subs so I had them connected directly to the UHD205 sub output and the component gain was maxed out...no wonder I could barely touch the volume on the subs!

A reset on the 7702mkii fixed the sub preout signal issue. With the gain on the Marantz set at +6.5dB the subs play at a far more moderate level...the gain on the sub volume was about 10 or 11 o'clock...that's a pretty good match for the B&Ws...a lot more natural, not overpowering.

You know, Audyssey isn't really a big deal to do. You take 8 measurements around the seating area. There are images on the screen that even show you where to place the mic. Takes about 8-10 minutes total for me. Maybe 15 for you being the first time?

I really think you're going to be pleasantly surprised with the results. XT32 does a great job with my subs. The speakers you have now are no slouches either and I think you'll benefit from it.
