I started getting into Home Theater with a Onkyo 7.1 system. I sold it, and I bought the Polk Audio Monitor 70 series towers x 6 and monitor series center, combines with 2 Klipsch 12" subs for a 7.2 set up. It sounded decent for movies, but it was just ear bleeding painful for music.
The tweeter in the monitor series is just too bright for me. So, I went to the RTiA series, and I found that the tweeter was still too bright for my taste. So, I wanted to move up to the LSiM series, and I just couldn't afford it at the time.
After months of searching for a neutral tweeter, I ended up buying the Arx A3 speakers. They sounded great for music. I then ended up losing a lot of $$$ selling the A3's, and I upgraded to the now Chane A5rx-c, which sound great for music and have better mid-range than the A3's.
So, in my person opinion, if you listen to a lot of music like I do, I would recommend looking for a speaker that plays music well, and the way you like it. Everyone is different. So, if you can audition as many speakers as you can before you make your decision. Spend the most that you can on the front set up since it will be one that does the most work.
I almost sold my A5rx-c and A2rx-c set up because I wanted to give the LSiM 703's and 706c a try when they were on sale, but then again, I don't think that would be much of an upgrade.
So, I'm going to wait for a year or so, and thereafter I will look for a substantial upgrade. I've been looking at the Legacy and Revel speakers, but at the moment I don't think my wife will let me spend that kind of money lol.
