Devices involved: 1) Sony Bravia Smart TV, 2) Directv HR24 Receiver, 3) Pioneer Elite VSX-LX101 receiver. I have connected DTV receiver to the AV receiver input named CABL/SAT by HDMI and then the HDMI Out on the AV receiver to the HDMI ARC input on the tv. During initial setup of the AV receiver all is working well. video/sound both are working with DTV and the smart apps on the tv.
But then initial setup of the AV is finished and I begin to watch tv using the Smart App on the tv. From the Sony TV remote I selected a Smart App, Netflix and I see automatic switching to the TV input on the AV receiver and I think great, didn't even have to select Tv input on the av remote. Then I decided after a bit I wanted to watch something from DTV. So I used the AV remote to switch input to the Cabl/Sat input and I get an audio switch but the video is still showing the scene from the Smart App (Netflix). The only way I can get what I want to watch is to turn everything off and use the DTV remote which BTW, turns all of this on, DTV, TV and AV Receiver. If I then want to watch something from a Smart App, I use the Sony TV remote to do that. Side note: before I connected this Pioneer AV receiver, if I was watching a Smart App, (and DTV receiver was turned on) I just had to hit the Return button on my Sony TV remote and would come out of the smart app and go back to DTV. I of course tried that and it does nothing now that the AV receiver is setup.
I had a Pioneer Elite VSX 43 connected to a Sony Bravia tv with DTV. Got fried by lightning all had to be replaced. All I had to do with that setup was switch inputs on the AV receiver while making sure the DTV receiver had been turned on. So with this new equipment, if watching Netflix in TV Input is showing on the AV receiver display, I think I should be able to just switch inputs, from TV input to Cabl/Sat on this AV receiver and get DTV. Can anyone see anything I am doing wrong, am i missing some little setting I should make? I could return the Pioneer to BestBuy but that is another 60 mile (one way) trip and I sure would like to figure it out. Bottom line again, this is an inconvenience in the way it is working, I am getting great video and wonderful sound.
