Center channel placement?

looks like I'm going to get the Klipsch RP-250C, and wondering if there's any reason why I shouldn't set it right on top of my receiver (Denon X1300)...? Would that be a big "no, no!" ?

All those vents in the receiver’s top panel are there for cooling. Block them with a speaker and you run the risk of the receiver overheating and shutting down.

Yep, what Wayne said. Plus if it gets hot enough, it could damage the speakers finish. Curious what the entertainment center setup is like.

If space is tight then perhaps a riser above the avr for the speaker to sit on but you may need to add cooling for the avr (many avrs require either free space above the avr or at least 8-12 inches of space, what does your avr manual specify for space around the avr?).

Yep. That's another good option.

I was curious so was looking at the 1300's manual, it doesn't seem to cover the subject except to say to provide more ventilation if the unit goes into protection mode (and I don't think its a great idea to force that issue). I'd leave at least 12 inches unless employing a cooling fan (as I do).
