Hi Guys.

I'm very new to this site and I'm looking for some advice if at all possible. I want to put together a system that I can use to listen to my records. my other requirement's are that it should integrate with my TV and Spotify streaming. I would like something which I can add to as well. so therefore I've been leaning towards the following and would like some comments on it.

1. Yamaha RXV781 receiver
2. Yamaha NSFS floor standing speakers
3. Yamaha Music Cast TWIN010 Pack - 2 x WX010 Wireless Speakers with Airplay and Bluetooth
4. Sony PSHX500 Turntable for Playing Vinyl and Recording in High-Resolution Audio Quality
5. Yamaha MusicCast YAS306 Soundbar with Bluetooth & Airplay

I'm hoping to add a subwoofer at a later stage. finances prohibit going any further at the moment. it would be great to hear your comments

thanks a stack

Some of the Yamaha speakers are fine, but some are not ones I would want to have. I don't know what speakers you are referring to exactly, but if it is these, you can look forward to some pretty sad bass. The soundbar will also be a junker, as will be the wireless speakers. The system you have outlined is fine for wireless convenience, but will be heavily compromised in terms of sound quality and will not sound great.

hi thanks for the reply.

yeah I realise the soundbar and small speakers aren't great but would be used expressly for the interim until I'm able to afford better. they will then be relegated to a bedroom and my kids playroom where the xbox is.

the floor standing speakers are the following

I want to ideally go for the Yamaha YSP5600 soundbar later on.

what are your thoughts on the receiver and turntable?
thanks again for the input its much appreciated

The receiver and turntable should be fine. Those speakers though.. I would be looking at something else. Since you are in the UK, you might look at stuff from Monitor Audio, Wharfedale, KEF, Dali, to name a few manufacturers. They may cost a bit more, but I think it will be worth it over the Yamaha speakers. They look pretty rudimentary.

Hi Garreth,

One other brand of British speakers worth considering is Harbeth. They may cost a little more but they are impressive. Apparently, it is about the only brand of British loudspeakers which is entirely built in UK.

For instance, one of their smaller monitors could well be eventually complemented by a good subwoofer or two, if you like to obtain a deeper bass response.
