Hello fellas. Good day. I'm planning to changing my speakers to Klipsch RP-280 and surround. Have lots of components and wants to get rid of them and maintain only an amp and preamp. I have a Carver Mt-1.5t (350 watts channel) for my fronts and Emotiva UPA500(80 watts per channel) for my center and surrounds. Can the Emotiva be able to handle Klipsch RP-280? I love to crank up my volume in music. Don't want to spend much on amplifiers. Or Thinking of selling both Amps. Don't want to spend more than $700

SYSTEM
CARVER MT-1.5, 350 WATTS (2 CHANNEL)
EMOTIVA UPA500, 80 WATTS (5 CHANNEL )
LEXICON MC-12 PROCESSOR
SONY TA-E9000ES PROCESSOR
ALESIS DEQ 830 EQUALIZER
SAMSUNG BDJ7500
EGREAT ANDROID TV BOX

Sort of a newbie here myself, but I'm going thru a new system build myself and thought I might be able to help on this since I just bought new amps.

As I understand, you're buying the Klipsch RP-280 surround system speakers (5.1) and you're thinking about a new amp to drive them for $700 or less.

If so...I would go with the Outlaw 5000 5ch amp. I think it will more than do the trick for roughly $600.

I have the emo A500 driving 2 prs of Noble Fidelity L85mk2 ceiling speakers...it's great for that purpose, but personally I would want a little more beef pushing my mains.

Thanks. I will consider that. So you believe the Outlaw will be better than the Emo?

Why the big imbalance in power between L/R vs center speaker? What is the center?
The RP280F is a fairly sensitive speaker so a wide variety of amps would do the job. I like the Outlaw suggestion for your budget, that's hard to beat for $600. Maybe the Monoprice Monolith amps if you want to bump the budget up....

I was using Polk Rti12 and they are power demanding and it gets to hid hard when volume turned on. I do listen to Music 80% so with Movies, I believe the Emotiva is ok for me. And the Polks are 500 watts. Even with the carver, when I hit real hard at it's speak, the speakers clip. I just saw and Adcom Amps too . How will they do as compared to Outlaw

Better? IDK about that.

Both are class A/B amps.

All channels driven...the Outlaw produces about 40w more per ch. than the Emo. It's a beefier amp...nearly double the weight of the Emo. A lot of people equate weight to quality of build...especially in a A/B amp. For the $100 difference in price you kind of feel like the Outlaw offers more value, but in 2 ch mode I don't think you'll notice much difference.

I agree with LovingtheHD...if you really want more value or a more robust amp...the Monolith 5 ch is a beast, but you'd have to ramp up your budget.

I caught a deal last Xmas on the Outlaw mono blocks and got 3 to run my LCR. I'm still debating on the surround amp...Like I said, I like my A500, so I'll probably buy the A700 but part of me is power crazy so I'm considering the Outlaw 7140.

Speakers don't demand power unless you spin the volume knob accordingly. Speakers max power ratings don't mean much except when they'll melt down, usually sound bad before that limit is reached anyways. I think any good solid state amp will be fine. I went from Carver to Crown XLS myself. Lots of choices out there depending on your desire for aesthetics and power and budget to accommodate :)
