Goodmorning,

Since last week I am noticing a humming noise comming out of my Yamaha RX-v473 receiver. Even in Stand by. When the power is switched off completly the humming noise is gone.

It's not comming out of the speakers but realy out of the receiver. I think it's louder near the volume button.

Does someone have an idea what the solution can be?

Thanks!

Is it sitting on a shelf that's thin and can be made to vibrate easily? It could hum if this is true. The power transformer can vibrate (just because the AVR is in standby, doesn't mean the power transformer isn't connected to the electrical service). When you press the main power button, it's no longer connected.

The power transformers most likely, there are (2), small for the remote/standby and mains...
Take off the top cover and:
1. Check & titen the bolts holding the transformers together
2. Check & titen the bolts holding the transformers down to the chassis

Just my $0.02... ;)

Goodmorning,

It's not the shelf. The receiver has always been on the shelf. And it's not thin :)

I hope I can open it. Two left hands... :)
