you gear!!! The salesman most likely doesn't know anything about HT and didn't want to look stupid. The only reason anyone would choose a soundbar is, budget notwithstanding(or WAF), they are lazy.

Invest in some time here and the knowledge and support here will provide along with equipping you with understanding about audio that will save you $$$ and put you in a position to make good decisions and choices...lol...this is a place to come to when you're a dummy to help you to become stupid...lol
