This is what my entire HT system has been plugged into all along. Replacing it this morning with a brand new one. It never made a very snug fit anyway and had been covered up with one of those flush plates that hid this crap underneath.

I need to replace one at our house. Peace and goodwill.

Reminds me of a washing machine that quit working in a rental house I had a while back. Asked the owner if the warranty was still in effect and even though it was he decided to simply replace it after he tried to get it working. He had already given it to the guys delivering the new unit, only to find the new unit also didn't work. The outlet had apparently lost it's ability to make contact with the plug....

make sure you go to mapleshade.com and get some of the solid maple ones.
They have incredible abilities way beyond providing 115vac. Providing AC power is so mundane.
mapleshade has found a way to make it new, exciting and exotic.
Their outlet covers are only $140 each. It will improve..............oh wait, I won't spoil it for you.
Go and read about it.

(just in case you can't detect sarcasm, or your sarcasm detector is broken: mapleshade = a scam)

Welp. Too late on that one anyway! Went with a $0.79 outlet from my local hardware store. I don't expect I'll reap the true benefits of superior 115-120vac potential and current delivery I could otherwise expect from paying $139 more for one! Lol

P.S. Wow... I'm in the wrong line of work. I need to start making snake oil products. As PT Barnum once said...

Okay this actually made me literally laugh out loud in my office here at work. Amish made!! Because if the Amish are known for anything it's their particular devotion to purity in all things electrical and electronic!! :D:confused::eek:o_O:p

And casings "sound better?" Casings! Jesus this is the pinnacle of snake oil if I've ever seen it. Good find.

At least you didn't get sucked in to the $200 "high priced" outlets offered by the other scam artists.
Whew. Mapleshade is a deal at only $140 each. And you might as well get some maple insulators as well for your amps, AVRs and other audio products. Absolutely miracle stuff. And they won't cheat you like the high priced guys would. :D

I always pull the outlets that my system is going to be connected to before I use them. My last place had some really old, corroded outlets that were basically a fire hazard.

I would consider that good practice now after my little discovery. Things you don't think about or just take for granted. True story: a few months ago I hired a company to come clean my AC ducts. He sets up his machine and methodically goes through the house room by room doing his thing while I get some work done. All of a sudden he comes rushing in excitedly telling me to come look what he sucked out of my spare bedroom vent. Three beer cans. The very old pop top cans too last seen in the 1980's. My house was built in '85, so it's fairly clear they were shoved in there by the builders. My house was built by people drinking on the job...

Or maybe a previous tenant's teenage kids hiding something in the vent....

I'm fortunate enough to have built my house. I installed mapleshades in every outlet opening. It's crazy, my lamps are at 6500k, my coffee tastes amazing every time with textures and nuances that I just don't get with other receptacles. Even my old 480 Sony trinitron looks like HD. Who knew...

Gotta hand a creative writing award to the guy who writes Mapleshade product descriptions. They're ridiculous but entertaining.

I am living in a home we had built just a few years ago. I am envious of you. None of my outlets will fail or act up so I don't have the opportunity to upgrade to mapleshade stuff just yet. I will bet if I upgraded the outlets that feed my sprinkler system my grass would be greener and my trees straighter and stronger.

Rofl!!! I might try that. My mind is swimming in possible applications. I think I'll start a mapleshade life hack blog.
