I was referring to the Technics 1210MK5 which B & H Photo sell for $2000 and is something different from the Anniversary Series.:)
DANG! That's the model that I have, but I paid a little over half that much new! I bought mine in 2011, seems that I made a good investment :p

Yup, seen him live a couple times! IIRC, I think 1 of those times he was with Jurassic 5.

If you like DJ Shadow and the whole turntablism thing, then you should see the movie Scratch. I have it on DVD, but I also saw it when it released at a local independent theater.
Scratch it is then! Muchly, muchly appreciated! :)

But first MK5 entered production in 2002.

Dunno if you saw my edit for Scratch:

DJ Shadow talks about spending days upon days down in a basement of a record shop, just digging! Records stacked floor to ceiling, and he tells about how one day he found a mummified bat.

I did, I did. That's why I wrote "Scratch it is then".

Thanks

Yup, it's a great movie, but I haven't seen it in years.

Of all the DJs that I have seen live, I think Mixmaster Mike was the BEST! It was an amazing show at the Lizard Lounge in Dallas. The Beastie Boys played one of the large venues in Dallas, then Mixmaster Mike played his aftershow from like midnight to just about the break of dawn! IIRC, I think that was his Bangzilla tour.

His skill is amazing, and he definitely sees what gets the response out the crowd and uses that to mix in the next track. For the first hour or so, he would drop in like 1 line from the Beastie Boys, then pull it off and say "y'all aint ready for that yet".

Mixmaster Mike is pretty heavily featured in Scratch.

Thanks for my next movie selection!
