Yamaha receiver 2CH Stereo not outputting to Sub

I have a Yamaha RX-V3081 and when I listen to music in 2ch steroe mode it does not output to the subwoofer as well. On my on previous Onkyo receiver the 2 ch stereo mode would also output to the subs.

As I have my speakers all set to small and crossovers set to 80hz I thought bass would go to the subs

Does anyone know if there is a config option in the Yamaha to turn on subs with 2ch stereo or is this not possible with this Yamaha music mode

Yep some avrs don't include the sub in stereo mode (are you using something like a direct/pure mode....think Yamaha calls it "straight"?). Sometimes you need to enable a double-bass type feature. Not very familiar with Yamahas generally, have had several others but not that one....will see if I find anything useful in your manual...no, not seeing what I'm looking for there.

2ch has no sub channel would indicate there are only 2 channels; aka no sub :) If you mains are set to small, it should redirect to the sub and play all of them when you choose stereo, however any direct/pure direct/source direct modes would remove that because they override bass management. If the mains are set to large, which in nearly all cases they should not be, you would use the double bass (may be mains + sub or similar name, whatever Yamaha calls it) to have the sub active as mentioned by lovinthehd.

Found that Yamaha calls it extra bass but manual wasn't really clear how it implemented it, at least not on the page I looked at.

I forgot to ask about how speakers were set, so used to setting speakers to small automatically....

Press the "Straight" key on the remote or front control panel to enable/disable output to the RL channels and sub-woofer.

Thanks, I tried that and it works a treat
AVR terminology and settings take a good review of the manual at a minimum and even then that doesn't always help. Glad you got it sorted better!
