Any Good/Cheap Tri-pods?

Folks, I have been using the same tri-pod for a good while now. It is merely a cheap one at that. However, it seems like every time I turn around small screws keep coming out. Unfortunately, they are also hard to put back in. Especially, with my poor eyesight. That being said, can anyone recommend a good, but inexpensive tri-pod? I don't mind to pay a little more than I did for the one I have. Seems like I gave like maybe $20--$25 for it. Just need a good basic tri-pod. Thanks!

Cheers,

Phil

Use a little LockTite to keep those screws from coming back out.;)

I think you want a "boom mic stand" or a "boom mic tripod", right? I really can't help much to tell you which one of those to get, but I do love me some parts-express:

As far as a "camera tripod", this one is quite good for my needs:

Yeah, more like the camera tri-pod. The boom mic stands look weird.....LOL!!!! I need a stand for my mic when running Audyssey. Plus, when I use the UMiK 1. Maybe a camera tri-pod such as the one that you linked for my Denon mic and a boom mic stand for the UMiK 1? I can tell that the camera tri-pod that you linked is much better than what I have. But, it is also much more expensive too. I think having (2) stands will be helpful, no?

Cheers,

Phil

I'm not the best to help you out on what you need for measurements. The last time that I ran MCACC on my Pio, I used a little Gorrilla tripod to attach the mic, then shoved it between my couch cushions to get the mic right at the ear position of the MLP.

I really think a boom mic stand may be better for that application.

I can tell you that the Dolica camera tripod that I listed is quite a nice tripod. It folds up nice and small, and honestly for the quality the price is good.

I'm using it as a tripod for a 90mm telescope! Rock solid mounts are a requirement for telescopes. To connect my telescope, I have custom designed and 3D printed the mount parts that I needed to attach to the Dolica. I need to post some pics of that work.

I prefer using my mic boom stand for positioning near/around furniture over my tripod....use it for both Audyssey and measuring mic (Omnimic2)

Yeah, I will get a new tri-pod AND a mic boom stand as well. That should take care of my needs. Just going to get a better tri-pod this go around. Have owned enough of the very cheap ones. It is time for something more reliable!

Cheers,

Phil
