Hello, I am an older user, an opera fan, new to this site, and a technophobe !
I have a LG 55EG9100 OLED television and am currently using a LG BP 530 blu-ray player. I do not wish to ever upgrade to 4K, and am content to stay at 1080p. I am not interested in upscaling, screen mirroring, or other fancy extras.
I wish to purchase the blu-ray player that will yield the best video image on my TV. Money is not an issue. I solicit your suggestions, and thanks very much. (This website has a vast amount of good info, I really appreciate it.)

I would recommend oppo BDP-103D. Personally have owned few players and I can say that this offers best value for money and has best picture quality from the players I have had.

I'm not convinced any player will give you a better picture than any other player. They're all digital. They read ones and zeros and pass them along.

However, some are considerably faster loading than others. It simply means you don't have to wait as long for the picture/movie to start after loading the disc. And some do have superior analog music capability... but you said that's not important, and if you're gonna run both the video and audio thru HDMI, (as most of us do), most any will do.

I replaced a Panasonic with an Oppo 103. The Oppo really is a lot faster to load. And it does have a couple analog audio outputs I use.

I personally was impressed by the 103D while using the darbee. Previously I had Marantz UD5007. But like you said, there is no difference in picture quality if there is no processing involved. Upscaling how ever can be quite different between players.

I am getting a very good image from the LG player. I just want to ensure I am getting the very best signal. The image quality on the OLED tv is really great.
I have an audiophile friend with a really elaborate system, he is a strong proponent for the Oppo.
Thanks to all for the comments.

If your processing is done by the tv the player is a transport essentially (like any optical disc player). My tv is a better processor than the player is going to be IME (and for audio only I prefer my processing in my receiver as well). Oppos are nice as far as more features and analog audio output, but the picture should be the same (unless you get the Darbee processor I suppose). Do you buy computers with fancier innards or ?

herbu and lovinthehd; So I assume that you mean all players transmit the same binary code to the television ? ( I'm sorry to be so dense, but I really know nothing about such mechanics.) If this is so, then there is little value in changing to a different Blu-ray player.
My LG blu-ray player has an acceptable loading period, and I really have no complaints. I just have a rather compulsive nature, and want the best image when I watch blu-ray opera recordings. Thanks for the input.

That is correct, unless you get player like oppo BDP-103D that has darbee, it will process the picture before sending it. But is it worth the upgrade from your current player I can't tell.
