2 SVS SB2000's or 1 JL Audio E110

I got some good sub advice last time I posted here and I was pretty well set on an SVS SB2000. However, since then I've decided wait a bit, save up and expand my budget to about $1500. I wanted to get some opinions on whether to go with one JL audio E 110 or 2 SVS SB 2000's? I have heard the E 110 and it sounds fantastic, but have not heard the SVS's. Both options are pretty close in price. Appreciate any help/opinions.

I would eventually get another JL 110 too it would just take me a LOT longer to get it(WAF). I guess my real question is...
Is it just better to get the dual SVS's so I can enjoy the benefit of 2 subs now and the smaller price tag? Or is it worth the wait and get just one JL now and the other in a year or 2? I am currently going without a sub because my Definitive Technology towers have subs in them and it sounds pretty darn good, but I am definitely wanting to fill that gap as best as possible.

I personally don't find JL's cost to be acceptable for the performance and to get two nice 12" subs vs a single 10 for the same price is a no brainer to me. I mean, if you have to have such small subs :)

I'd say two SVS subs as well. You will not be disappointed

Very good advice here. But, might I add that if it were me I would opt for (2) of these instead of the SB2000's:

Dual Hsu ULS 15 MK2's would cost $1616 delivered! That is, provided that you have the room for them. However, they really are not that BIG. Just big on performance as there is NOT much out there that can touch them for the money. Best wishes on your decision.

Cheers,

Phil

Size really isn't an issue. I'm looking for the best sub or dual subs I can get for my budget. I'm certainly open to other options regardless of size. I do appreciate all the replies from everyone.

Thanks for the links this sub looks great, but 2 maybe just a little over my budget at this time if I want to sleep in the house. Lol. I'm already pushing the envelope at $1500. Would it be a good choice to buy one and the other at a later time? Or is there another sub that you know of in my budget that would sound better by itself until I can get the second one? Like I said size and looks aren't a big deal(within reason). I'm just about the best performance wether that's one $1500 or less sub now and get the second later or 2 subs at the same price?

In order for me to answer your question please allow me to mention that my preference is on music listening first and foremost. As such, I crave the tight, punchy, and very well articulated sound w/vast distinctness in the transients. I will have it no other way. You can go so far as to say that I am admittedly very picky. Can't stand one-note, sloppy, boomy, and overhung bass. Honestly, it drives me crazy. By now you get the idea, no?

Right now w/the Hsu ULS 15 MK2 sub for $806 shipped is a steal to say the least! I am NOT aware of any other sub for the money out there right now that can best it. If there is, then I want to know about it. BTW, I also do like to watch a movie every now and then. The ULS 15 MK2 is no slouch in that department as well. It packs quite a wallop if you will giving you a visceral experience.

As far as getting one now and then saving to get another goes, my advice is to go for it! You will NOT regret it. Hsu offers B-stocks from time to time so check that often. Mine was a B-stock and it worked perfectly. Honestly, I never could find anything wrong w/it. But, I sure loved the discount that I got. Anyways, best wishes to you and on your decision!

Cheers,

Phil

Google jl audio duel voice coil subs not only will u see pics but it will show multiple places to order them from. My phone is lame and won't let me copy links, but these speakers were mine and my brothers favorites for car and home systems. They have such a bigger variety of ways to connect them to optimize the amps performance. U can run a single sub with one channel 2 channels or even bridge. U can also do parallel for multiples run 2 subs off 4 channels. There are more options then I can list

Are you talking about drivers or complete subwoofers? How do you figure a dual voice coil does anything about compensating for a second sub? You are referring to merely more wiring options?

I been lookin at them on google since I saw this thread and saw them for anywhere between $99 and $500. Depending on size of course

With the duel voice coil it changes the ohm restrictions. So it can change from 4ohm to 2ohm just by using the second voice coil on the same channel

I know how it works. I was more curious about your statement about compensating for a second sub. You also appear to be talking about drivers only.

No subs. When put in a proper box these speakers can compensate for a second. Not saying permanently but temporeraly. But at the price that part dosent really matter cause he could buy 4 within his budget

Lots of subwoofers have dual voice coils, but that doesn't mean their performance is better. It just means you can wire them in ways that is easier for a single amplifier to power. It looks like you misunderstand dual voice coils.

I would try to make the stretch for dual ULS-15 mk2s. A single ULS-15 mk2 almost doubles the performance of two E-110s. Yes, that is how powerful they are.
