Looking for the best upgrade for $2000 considering my current setup.
Current setup:
Avr: Yamaha rx-a850
Amp: marantz mm7025 for front towers
Speakers: 7.1 system
Polk cs10
4 Polk tsi 200s for surround and back surround
2 polk tsi 400s for front speakers
Sub: rythmik fv15hp and a polk psw505. I unplugged the 505 because it has no chance of playing with the rythmik.
Oppo bdp 103d.
Room is approximately 20x20 with 8 ft ceilings, but is open to a the entryway of the house and a 10x20 foot room that doesn't have a door.
I am looking for a 50% music 50% movie setup. I like to CRANK the music, especially when im walking around the house to clean. My speakers are in the basement of a split level house. I also enjoy sitting in the sweet spot (of course) to listen to music/movies.
I recently bought some sacd's to see if I could tell a difference in sound quality. I love listening to the 5.1 recordings where drums and such bounce from speaker to speaker. From what I've read, I think there is a lot to be gained from a great set of speakers.
I have my eyes on the new aperion grand verus 2 bookshelves and center. I plan to add the towers later because I only have appx $2000 to spend right now. Since i have a good sub and speakers crossed over at 80hz, im thinking the bookshelves will do the job for now.
Are the speakers what you would do with this system if you had $2000?
Are these the speakers you would choose?
At some point I would like to get a second fv15hp, but it plays PLENTY loud and clean for me right now. I have read a lot of threads that recommend a second sub too. I feel like I have more to gain from better speakers first, but am open to advice!
