Hi.

Has anyone use these to dsp all 7 channels or at least 2 subs and 2 mains? Mostly interested in subs bass and mains mid range.

I've used several of the miniDSP options including the 4x10. What are you looking to do?

I like the sound of my 4.2 system just want to fine tune base range and maybe midrange. Not sure it cant sound better. Ordering mic first to check what i have in rew. But have a feeling i got some spikes. But i can hear these only in some songs. So hopefully this should be possible to fix. Ideally would like to have ability to tune all my speakers but for that i would need to use 10x10 which is 599 now. Looking at other options. For instance buying 3 separate 2x4 for each pair of speakers, old ones for 100$. Is that possible at all?

First thing's first, are you using an external amp to power your speakers or are you powering off of an integrated or receiver?

If you're not externally powering your speakers, then you'll only be able to use the miniDSP for your subs, or at least the two models you've mentioned.

I am using yamaha a860 and oppo 103. Oppo has analog outputs for all channels. Avr has respective rca inputs. Why cant i put minidsp(s) in between for non subs?

Without the Oppo, you wouldn't be able to because the miniDSP's are RCA or balanced only. They don't actually allow for any power transfer to the speakers, just input signal attenuation.

You can go Oppo -> AVR -> Speakers since you have the Oppo. The only problem, and it may or may not be a problem, is that whatever you do with the miniDSP will only work when the Oppo is the source. Any other source besides the Oppo will not get the curves you input into the miniDSP.

Ok. Great to hear. But can i use separate 2x minidsp for each speakerset? Will minidsp know of each other? Or i need to tune each freq band individually?

Actually i think all i need is Nanoavr another product from minidsp. This has 8in via hdmi 8out via hdmi. Less cables. All digital. 249$.

I think we've gotten ahead of ourselves. No matter what you get you'll also need a measurement mic and computer running REW. You'll need to use REW's autoEQ feature after getting your mic all set up and the calibration file loaded. REW will automatically generate the biquads you need after you set up the specified bands and how much boost or trim you want applied. So you can tune each band individually, but you still need to take the initial measurements and followup measurements to ensure that what you're doing is resulting in what you want to happen. So you need to also factor in a measurement mic into this purchase.

Still doesn't solve the problem of only being able to use it with the Oppo. Not so great if you have multiple sources. IMO, the nanoAVR can be great as a quick solution, but can also be a little limiting as well. If you're not using separates, then you kinda don't have a choice though.

At the moment i am listening to cd and dvd only. Was gaing to buy some external ssd as multimedia storage. But this should work i think. I can connect it to oppo usb and then it will work fine. Also oppo has connectivity to wifi, bluetooth... more or less the same functionality as yamaha avr. So probably should be fine.

Ordered nanoavr hd and umic from minidsp. Wonder how long it will take to deliver to uk. Will prob take some time to learn how rew and nanoavr work. Will update you guys when get some result...
