Hello everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on upgrading my home theater. Its mostly used for movies/music and occasional video games. Its all setup in a 12' by 18' living room. My current setup is:
Yamaha RX-V473 Receiver
2x Pioneer Pioneer SP-FS52 fronts
2x Pioneer SP-BS22 rears
Pioneer SP-C22 Center
Polk Audio PSW111 Sub
What triggered the want for upgrade was a friend offering to part with his A860 for $650. I've been wanting to upgrade to a 4k TV for a while but would need a new receiver that supports all the new fancy features like 4k pass through/hdr and so on. There is also a possibility of moving in to a larger apartment in the near future where a larger room would be dedicated to the home theater setup so its possible this would be a receiver I can grow in to. Here are my questions:
-If the move doesn't happen or I stick with my current speakers for a long time is this receiver just overkill for the setup? I know its a good deal but would I be better off getting something cheaper?
-If I do end up getting a larger space and/or upgrading my speakers I'd want to upgrade to a 5.1.2 Atmos setup. I was looking at the Pioneer Elite SP-EFS73 speakers as the new fronts and maybe the center from the Elite line as well. Would this receiver be able to properly drive these speakers? They are rated at 4ohms and receiver manual states 6-8ohms is ok (4 for fronts) but doesn't mention the center being ok at 4ohms.
-The whole ohm thing has been very confusing. The manuals on receiver state to switch it from default 8ohm setting to 6 if speakers require it but various forums insists on leaving the setting alone. Something about power limits that I havent been able to get a clear understanding of. Whats the proper way to do it?
Thanks in advance for any help!
