New Emotiva Amps and Processors

So is there an embargo on the new Emotiva products? They posted photos to their Facebook and Instagram pages, and they're being discussed on the Emotiva Lounge forum, but there is zero mention of them anywhere else.

It looks like Emotiva is introducing a sub-XPA line of amps and processors called "BasX", I can't find it at the moment, but I think at least some of them were Class D.

They also showed the new Airmotive speakers and subs, which looked very good.

Here is a link to the thread talking about it.

Personally I'm a huge fan of this. I would love an XPA, but that's more power and more cost than I can justify.

Am I really the only person who's excited about this?!

I've got no real interest in the BasX line. Based on the price and rated power in the thread, I don't see the 5ch amp being much more than a refreshed UPA-500. While that model did fine on the test bench here, it's not really any more capable than a mid-level AVR. I'm watching the Emersa's, but again, not really holding out hope that the 5ch version is going to be a real powerhouse, specifically into 4 ohm loads. The new XPA's are interesting, just wish they could have cut a bit in terms of form factor. The 17Wx19Dx8H size is a deal breaker for me.

I like what I'm seeing on the BasX Pre-amp.

BUUUUUUTTTTT.......I already own a USP-1 and an XDA-1 and don't really see any reason to swap those out.

As much as I love to argue, here I fully agree with Steve. Nothing exciting here. Given Yamaha is already set the benchmark in inexpensive integ-amps and S301 even includes dac.
Also given Emotiva's checkered history with HT pre-pros, I am going to place little faith in success of MC-700.

if you go to www.avsforum.com They had a big announcement there on the amps, I saw that today when I was browsing their site.

On a side note I did talk at length with Dan at Emotiva on their Gen 3 amps, and I am going to buy a two channel to try it out as a sub for A23 I use in my bedroom. I don't need that much power but I am going to try and do a poor mans listening comparison. The A23 is only 125w and only cost me 675.

I'm considering a 2 channel BasX solution for my living room 2.2 setup, but that's about it for me for a while, until there's some definitive info on the XMR-1.

I think they're new BasX line of amps will find homes, especially since they're affordable A/B amps and would be really useful for surrounds and overhead effect speakers. The Emersa stuff has a place too I think, if you don't mind Class D and don't have a lot of rack/shelf space their size to performance would work for some. Me, I love my XPA-7 and XPA-5. :)

I like the idea of a decent pre-tuner with a mc/mm photo section for 300. I like what they are doing at Emotiva overall, just wish the put some energy on the valve side of things. A push pull design using kt120s for $1500 would sell well, IMO.

The emotiva sale is looking good. The TA 100 looks pretty darn good. It hits all the right notes for a small room set up.

Yep. I'm looking for something small for the bedroom setup and the TA100 might be it. My X-A100 is nice and small but no remote control makes it a bit inconvenient. 4 Ohm capability means I can use my A/V-2s :)

Does anyone know if the TA-100 remote uses watch batteries or AA or AAA?
I just read through the manual and it doesn't mention the batteries!

Either way, I'd probably go Yamaha to get their loudness control, but if you need the main pre-outs the Yamaha amps do not have them until you get to the A-S1000 level!
This is strange because Yamaha's less expensive R-S700 receiver does!

I'm surprised by how little info I'm finding on this little amp on the web. It ticks so many boxes: it's 4 ohm stable, it has an FM tuner (nice), a good looking headphone amp, and it has a full set of digital inputs (sweet).

That is a frustration with Emotiva. They change their product line so frequently (even for simple power amps) that by the time a solid history is established, you are lucky if it is still available.
Emotiva has generally done a good job with getting their products reviewed, but they will generally choose their higher profit items for the reviews.

I really miss the old days when Emotiva would post actual lab tests for each product! It looks like the XPA-1 is the only one that still has lab data under the "Resources" link.
