can I Installing a new woofer?

I have a small dent on the dust cap of my new but used totem winds and am thinking of replacing it. It causes no issues to the sound but the cabinets are mint and would also like a mint woofer to go with. Totem wants $400 for a new one. Question is, can I install it myself? Are the wires simple to attach or should I send in the speaker to Totem? Ideally, I would like to do it or have someone local who knows what they are doing to do it. Thoughts?

Is the dustcap made from fabric? If so, I have heard of people using vacuums to pull the dustcap back out.

I think it's paper. I got the main indent out but there still seems to be visible dimples that won't come out.

Replacing a driver is fairly simple unless you're not able to handle whatever Totem did for connections (can't imagine it would be very hard but then I like diy speakers)....I wouldn't think a cosmetic issue is worth $400 myself. I'd just put the grill on and let out of sight out of mind do its magic....

....but does bring up the question of just how did this happen....new to you but previously damaged or in your hands?

....and what are you doing to prevent further potential damage if in your hands?

Ignore it and enjoy the speakers. It won't make a bit of audible difference in sound and you may be the only one who even notices it's there. fuggetaboutit.

I bought it like this. The guy said he didn't even notice it (BS I call). It must have happened dusting or something. I take care of my speakers so I am not worried about this when they are in my hands.
