11 yearly Yamaha rx-v2600 receiver with remote control problem

I am trying to eeke out another year or two with this receiver. Recently bought a new 4K TV and now the subwoofer doesn't work. I called the sub company and they suggested going into the amp settings for the
sub and see if it is turned off, which sometimes happens when you connect new devices.
The maddening part is that the Yamaha remote will not get into the speaker settings. I changed the batteries, all the other buttons work, but the GUI stops there GUI. Any thoughts? Is the problem with the
receiver or the remote?

did you dig out the owner's manual or look for it online? you might just be in the wrong menu. here's a link if you don't have it.

also, if you haven't, try running ypao.

Thanks for the reply Pogre, but yes I do have the complete owners manual and the problem is that I cannot
get into the menu that sets up the speaker settings, even to access ypao. Frustrating.

my guess would be the controller. I've had good luck with replacement remotes.com. I got an oem denon remote for my receiver recently since my dog turned the original into a chew toy...

that's my guess. I'd lean towards trying that if it isn't too expensive. could be a quick easy fix.

*edit: did you try power cycling everything? it's a longshot, but it's free and easy to do. just power everything down and unplug for a couple minutes.

I’ve had good luck finding used remotes on ebay.

previous rx-v2600 owner here. u should be able to get into the GUI via the button controls on the front panel. the manual is available on the Yamaha web site for directions.

If I read you correctly you can open setup, but you cannot open the speaker settings from setup? If so I would try hard resetting your receiver. This ofcourse has a risk that if your receiver is faulty you wont be able to set it up anymore.

that's what scares me about a hard reset, but I suppose if op's unit isn't working, then there's not much to lose.

I might try contacting Yamaha first, but a hard reset might just be the ticket.
